bnorms 2 Posted April 11, 2012 I am 13 days post-op and am on full liquids. I'm pretty sure I have been eating far too much too quickly and need to get back on track. I know I have overeaten a LOT of things like pudding or Soup....so I guess I need to just measure it out so I don't overstretch my new stomach. Is it supposed to be 2oz at this point? In how much time? The post-op diet guidelines my doctor gave me said for pureed foods, only eat 2oz....is it the same for the pudding/yogurt/soup stuff? How bad is it that I drink my 8oz Protein Shake in like 15-20 minutes?
frumpynomore 204 Posted April 11, 2012 When you are on liquids your stomach can hold a LOT more than 2 oz. I was told that you cannot stretch your stomach out. My doc said that your stomach will never stretch out. I don't know how true that is but I trust my doc. I can tell you that once you get on full foods you will not be able to eat all that you want and you'll understand when you are full. I didn't worry about how much I ate until I got to the full foods stage and even now I don't worry because my stomach won't let me eat very much! You will always be able to drink more than you can eat and if it's "slider" foods (anything mushy, soft, liquid) you will be able to eat a lot more than you need to. Good luck! LindaL 0 Posted April 11, 2012 I know how you feel- I am 2 weeks post op and haven't felt any restriction but have been assured by others from this site that it will come with solid foods! Good luck!
Caradina 65 Posted April 12, 2012 Yes, I can eat a whole cup of Soup if it has no chunks. If it's more hearty, then it's like 4 bites and full. A whole yogurt cup is no problem, but not so much for mashed potatos. It'll come.
