I normally have:

Mini Babybel with meds

Breakfast is either a Protein bar or an egg and sausage

lunch is dense Protein (4 oz chicken breast, hamburger patty, a few shrimp, etc)

dinner these days is often a stir fry of beef and veggies

Water is my number one diet building block these days. I usually drink a bottle while I'm taking my meds, then one when I leave the house to go to work, another bottle at work, one on the way home and at least one more bottle of Water after dinner. I use a lot of mio drops in my water as well.

If you're interested, a lot of folks here use My Fitness Pal to log our meals and workouts. I'm Lissa912 on there and would be happy to add you as a friend. MFP allows you to either show or hide your daily meals. I keep mine visible to others because it helps me maintain accountability. It's a great place to get ideas about what to eat.

It depends on whether you are using the phone or the computer application. On the phone application, go to the friends (bottom of the screen), then click on requests at the top of the screen and type in the name of the person you would like to request. On the computer application, I have no clue, unfortunately. :)

I'm still newly post-op but per my surgeon's plan I can eat soft foods. I'm still struggling with basic Protein portions so I haven't incorporated many soft foods yet. Here's what I had today:

Breakfast: nectar Protein Drink (32gm protein).

Lunch: 3/4 deli slice cheese spread with a toddler spoonful of lowfat sour cream and a black bean soupy mixture I make, rolled up and cut into pieces.

Snack: 2 oz Greek yogurt with SF salted caramel Syrup and a few dashes of cinnamon.

Dinner: was still full from snack. I made a batch of quiche lasagna to keep for when I feel like I can manage a soft food. I ate about a spoonful of the egg/ricotta/cheese "batter" and it really stuck with me for a while (easily the densest thing I've eaten in more than 2 weeks).

After dinner: I've made what I call a PBJ Protein Drink - vanilla Protein powder, PB2, SF Peanut Butter syrup, SH strawberry syrup and soy milk. I still feel stuffed so I may or may not be able to finish it tonight.

I think a lot of people order their SF syrups online, but I think they also have them at World Market and might have them other places. I don't use any of them.

My normal meals when I was first released to regular food were usually the following:

Breakfast - scrambled egg with cheese, diced canadian bacon, and veggies (usually mushroom/tomato)

lunch - chicken breast, 2% cheese chunks, sometimes yogurt or some veggies (sliced cucumber is always good and doesn't seem to fill my sleeve up too quickly). I also sometimes do leftovers from the prior night's dinner so it could be taco meat with 2% shredded cheese, lowfat sour cream and salsa. Sometimes I splurge and do a few tortilla chips with it.

dinner - whatever I fix for my family, and I just eat the Protein part of the dish and try to avoid most of the carbs. We make a lot of chicken recipes, but also pasta/meatballs, steaks on the grill, etc.

Daniellec

If you go to your home page then click on the top where it says friends it will direct you to a page that says invite friends. Once you click on invite friends you will go to another page were at the top you will see a "find members" button. There you just copy and paste (Lissa912) into the Username box and there you go. Sorry if that sounded confusing. I hope it helps.

By the way Lissa I did invite you as a friend.

At 2 months post-op, this is what my typical day is like.

Breakfast options:

  • 1 single serving non-fat greek yogurt with about 1/4 cup fruit, some Torani sugar free Syrup, a sprinkle of Eggface's Protein granola or some sliced almonds.
  • 4 of Eggface's "bites" (I make them with turkey sausage and shredded apple for breakfast)
  • 1 scrambled egg with a healthy spoon of Jimmy Dean turkey sausage crumbles, sometimes wrapped in a mission low carb whole wheat tortilla (I can't eat it all if I wrap it in the tortilla)

lunch:

  • tuna salad, chicken salad, turkey ham salad, etc made with olive oil mayo and crunchy veggies (usually about 1/3 cup), with cucumber slices
  • leftovers from dinner
  • "lettuce wrap" made with 2 slices of lunch meat, 1 slice of sargento thin sliced cheese, wrapped in lettuce leaf. Usually dipped in home guacamole. I buy the 100 calorie packs from Wholly guacamole.

dinner suggestions:

  • crock pot salsa chicken- cook a couple of chicken breasts with about 1/2 cup salsa and then shred the meat. I make it into "tacos" by adding some shredded lettuce, veggies, etc. Eat in a lettuce wrap or in a low carb tortilla. This always leaves plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day
  • grilled fish, chicken breast or turkey burger (I use my George Forman grill) and make sure they stay moist!
  • turkey meat balls with a little sugar free spaghetti sauce and veggies such as zucchini, mushrooms, black olives, etc
  • veggies:
    • well cooked cauliflower
    • squash
    • zucchini
    • green Beans
    • sweet potato (not often, it's a treat)
    • mushrooms
    • onions
    • lettuce
    • cucumber slices

Snacks

  • yogurt (if I didn't have it for breakfast)
  • apple slices (no skin), sliced super thin with sugar free almond butter or string cheese
  • hard boiled egg
  • Eggface's "bites"
  • turkey meatballs with a smear of barbeque sauce
  • lower fat cheese

Good luck! If you haven't found it yet, go to www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com. She is a Gastric Bypass patient but the recipes all work for us too! Wonderful ideas, even for early post-ops.

I am 2 months post op and still drink alot of Protein shakes because meat is hard for me to eat. A sample of my day is

B- greek yogurt or babybel cheese with blueberries

L-Syntrax nectar drink

D- salmon, chicken or Beans with some sort of veggie

S-fruit, cheese stick or an Atkins shake or bar.

I am lucky if I can eat half a cup of food at once. I eat alot of fruit because its sort of a slider food for me and it doesnt hurt when I eat it. I usually have coffee in the morning with Protein Powder in it as well. My menu probably isnt ideal, but it works for me and I get plenty of Protein.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
