Hey, sorry to hear that you are so bummed. Its frustrating. I honestly think it has to do with the low BMI. I was around the same weight as you when I got surgery. Lost only 35lbs since surgery and this week it has only been 1lb. Keep what you are doing. As long as you are eating healthy, drinking Water, exercising you should be fine. Its 30lbs that you have lost, thats a great thing!!! Imagine trying to lose 30lbs without the sleeve. It would probably have taken longer. We are here for you!! hugs!

Well...today makes 4 months for me and I'm down 30 pounds. Needless to say I am not happy about the SLOW weight loss! I could just scream as I never dreamed that my journey would turn out like this, I'm sad! :(

30 pounds is GREAT!!! Before surgery it would have been so much more difficult! Are you measuring your food? Are you talking with your nutritionist, are you making the right choices, are you exercising? Answer these questions to yourself and look at the positive side of WOW, I lost 30 pounds!!! If you are doing everything the right way, you will get to your goal...be patient!

Good luck,

Ela

I can imagine it must be frustrating but my NUT always says to me.. "what's the hurry? You didn't gain weight over night and you wont lose it any faster. your still losing and not gaining and that's all that matters wether it takes a day or a month"

Thanks y'all! :)

I know is hard being patient, but have faith and trust your sleeve!!!! They are saying that it can take up to 18 months to get to your goal weight.

Yikes this is my fear! I am so nervous that I will not lose. I did read a lot on the forum and many people stall about every 3 weeks. Pammie' date=' does your Protein shake have a lot of other junk in it? I know the more pure may not taste as good, but better for you.[/quote']

Hey Dee,

Forgot to tell you I did stall for about 2 weeks 1 mo out. But after it I started losing like crazy. U will do fine!!

Pammie-

I'm sorry you are frustrated. I do understand. I just passed my 3 month mark and I've lost only 30 lb as well. My clothes are fitting much better and I'm not losing any hair, so that's a positive. I'm trying very hard to focus on the positive things, but I just thought it would be easier this time. The last 2 months has been basically a little over 1 lb a week average and that is a little discouraging. I have moments when I just worry that I will never reach goal or that I am doing something wrong when so many have lost twice as much as me by this point. But... what can you do? Guess we just have to hang in there.

ladies i have a question... It sounds like your diets are just fine... but are you exercising regularly? Just remember the sleeve is a TOOL to help get you to where you want to be, but it can't be the only thing that you do. You gotta help it out a little..

But think about it this way...30lbs in 4 months is still a lot of weight.. would you have been able to do that before surgery... dont get down on the slow loss.. it really is kind of a blessing in disguise, because i will help your skin recover better so that you don't have loose skin hanging.

But if i had to say anything i would tell you if you want some faster results.. boost up your workouts... cardio, resistance training.. things like that. but just remember its NOT A RACE... everyone will lose at different rates! Just let your sleeve work for you.

Keep your heads up you will get to goal!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
