Iliana82 84 Posted April 11, 2012 So I went to a support group today that is about 35-45 minutes away from me. It's away from my area but it was GREAT!!!!! Everything that I want from a support group. I was bummed before because the one near my area wasn't so great. Thank god I found this one. Just wanted to share :-) 2 BeautyVGSJourney and Living again 11/17/2011 reacted to this
Lissa 2,631 Posted April 11, 2012 Having a good support group is essential, IMO. I've kept attending my surgeon's group even though I didn't care for the moderator because the other members were so great. Now it seems that the moderator has changed and I'm loving the new gal, so I'm even more motivated to attend the meetings!
fluffylibra30 323 Posted April 11, 2012 I agree a good support group is important. My surgeons office sponsers ours, and the awesome part is, the NUT, insurance cordinator; (she had bypass), the RN, nurses asst, and even the surgeon himself all take turns sponsoring the meetings, so you get a chance to talk to them all if you come every month. thats the only thing i dont like its only once a month. Last month my NUT and I talked about plastics for a half hour. SHe is getting some and promised to tell me about the whole experience and how much it cost. Im excited! I am going to get me some next summer. :-D
IowaAndy 95 Posted April 11, 2012 Wish I had a support group but I was told that I was not welcome at the one that I used to attend because I went to Mexico and had the band to sleeve revision. I am doing fine on my own but it sure would be nice to sit and talk to others and listen to how they feel and what problems, issues and successes that other have had on their journey.
