njs_star627 19 Posted April 11, 2012 I haven't gotten my surgery yet, but I'm seeing just how realistic depression is without my "drug of choice" food. I'm going to get a journal tomorrow and start looking into support groups. Somethings I just can't talk to ny family and friends about

hellonurse 76 Posted April 11, 2012 I can relate. food is my calming friend. Just going to the grocery store was depressing. Seeing all my favorite buddies, and Im picking out Protein bars, LOL!! But seriously, that is a great idea, I think I will do the same, then in six months, I can look back and see how far Ive come. This site is the best!! Take Care!! BeautyVGSJourney 99 Posted April 11, 2012 it will take some time to adjust but most people do. Journaling and support groups are definitely great ideas! You might want to also consider psychological therapy to figure out the reasons behind your self medication with food. Unfortunately many people get the surgery and don't deal with the underlining issue and end up abusing drugs or alcohol. Good luck and hang in there!
