Calling All Men To The Man Room!

Recommended Posts

I've been following this site for a few months in stealth mode and this particular forum has been light in the posting department. So men lets get this forum moving. I'll be having my sleeve on April 27th with Dr Alvarez in Mexico. Looking forward to hearing from the fellas.

Hiya, Sergeant.

Had my sleeve on Jan. 16. I have lost an average of 1/2 pound a day, slower now than when I first got out of the operation. Diligence in portions, Protein, exercise, Water drinking makes the difference. It is a big blast to get into these smaller clothes.

May your sleeve serve you well!

Hey dudes! I'm a year and 4+ months out. It's been a FANTASTIC journey, I'd do it again in a heart beat - but I'm glad I don't have to!

Stick with it guys, the dividends are HUGE! I am fitter than I have EVER been. Just had lab work done and everything is nearly PERFECT! The nurse who called wished she had the same good news for all her patients. It works! You can MAKE it work for you too! Even after breaking up with my lover - food - and the heartbreak THAT caused the results are just worth it all.

I am still here. Just don't have alot of time to keep up. I had surgery in August of last year with Dr. Almanza in Mexico. I am down an even 150 pounds from 386 to 236. I still go to the gym at least 4 days a week and am in better shape than I have been in 20 years.I want to lose about 40 more pounds, but don't really know when or where it will stop. The last few months have slowed down considerably from the first 4 months around 25 pounds a month to about 10 to 12 pounds a month. Good luck. I think anyone at least 100 pounds over weight should consider being sleeved.

I'm a new user as well, joined just a couple of days ago. I have my first appointment with the Dr. on May 9th and hope to have the surgery sometime in June. I'm 6'2" and starting at 300lbs and hope to get down to 200lbs, maybe less if I can. I too will be looking to the boads for support and words of wisdom as I go through this experience. Good luck sergeant with your surgery tomorrow!!!

Hey guys,

Welcome to all of you who are new to the forum. I got my sleeve on March 22nd. I'm down 36 lbs since the surgery and 42 lbs from my heaviest. Although my weight loss has been a bit uneven up to this point I couldn't be more pleased. I'm just now transitioning to solid foods and learning what my sleeve likes and what it doesn't. I can definitely say that this is the best thing I've done for myself in many years. I'm sleeping better than I have in forever and walking is getting easier every week. Stick with the forum. Every time I visit I read about someone who is or has had experiences just mine. It really helps to know that we've all been in similar places.

Hi all.

I got sleeved on April 11th, along with a gall bladder removal and a hiatal hernia repair. This site is great and a wealth of information. I especially like hearing from other guys on the topics that come up.

Modee, It's great to hear that you are doing so well!!! Hearing things like that truly inspires me and keeps me focused on the good things that I will get to experience very soon.

Mike,

I'm interested to hear more about your hiatal hernia repair and how you are doing with that. I too have a hiatal hernia that will need repaired during surgery. I suffer from horrible acid refux and only hope that it goes away after fixing the hernia. I'm sick of having to sit up in bed unitl midnight waiting for the acid reflux to go away.

I had surgery on 4/24 with a hiatal hernia repair. My surgeon didn't know about the hernia until he got into the surgery. He fixed everything while he was in there. I'm 24 6'3 and started at 325 pds. Day of surgery I was 315. I'm down to 305 only 4 days post op. My goal is 200-225ish.

My hernia was a surprise to all involved. They fixed it while I was under and I didn't even know it had happened until my wife told me in recovery.

In hindsight I went through a period of horrible acid reflux that everyone just attributed to my weight and diet. If it was the hernia that was causing it hopefully it will be a thing of the past.

I was talking to my boss and he was telling me that when he had his hernia repaired the healing process hurt like hell, but I've only had some slight discomfort from it. Overall my surgeon did a great job and I think that makes a big difference.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
