Ok so ive read all the posts about stalls and getting in Protein but I still feel pretty lost. I can never quite get to my 60g protein and Ive been stalled for a week and my weight keeps fluxuating 5 lbs up and down. I am super frustrated and it is actually really upsetting me. Im almost a month out and only down 20 lbs. I feel very lost and outta control. I walk everyday and have a pretty strenous job...thoughts,ideas,help!

Ok, you need to reword this. It's been a month and I have LOST 20 pounds!! That's 5 pounds a week!! That's awesome! Don't bet yourself up, and I promise the weight will come off!

It's frustrating I understand!!! I have lost 34# since preop diet. I am 4 weeks PO. I am frustrated because I'm losing about a pound-2 week... BUT I am losing inches. Lots... Look at the other things that could be happening with your body! Do you feel better? Are your clothes fitting better, looser? Any loss is a positive :) Hang in there though!!! Jenn

Well, I lost 22lbs the first month and my doc said it was a good rate. 20lbs is a good amount considering we're pumped up in fluids and have to lose more right after surgery.

If you dont mind me asking, what is your starting weight? People who start with a lower weight/BMI tend to lose slowly.

You're doing just fine, dont worry :)

This is how I get my Protein in. I have a Protein Shake for Breakfast. Im up around 8am. It takes me until 11 or so to drink it all. That's 26 grams right there. Then I drink some Water or propel zero. A little later, I have a 4oz container of Breakstone low fat cottage cheese. That's 11 grams right there and fills me up to boot. A few hours later, I puree 2oz of chicken with some Soup that I make even more liquidy with low fat, low sodium vegetable broth and drink that as well. That's 13 grams of protein. Then a few hours later, I make another protein shake which is another 26 grams of protein. That's a total of 76grams. I usually dont get done drinking until 10:30-11pm but I get them in. In between I sip on water or propel zero but because everything I am consuming is liquid, I dont worry so much about getting in extra liquids because it's all adding up.

VJ I am not starting with a low BMI or a lower weight I went in for surg at 272# and am now 252. I am super stressed about this. Yes my work clothes look better but I measured today and i've only lost an inch! I guess its complaining, but I am just so frustrated

Hang in there girl. When you least expect it, that scale is going to move again. I know easier said than done but I have faith it will move again for you. Just try to really increase your Proteins just a little more or as I heard another person say, drink a cup of Decaf coffee. It has a laxative effect. lol

"Almost a month out" - virtually everyone experiences a stall around week 3. With my band I hit in from about week 2.5 to about week 4.5. It's your body reacting to the "emergency" you've just put it through. Remember your body doesn't have a brain. It can't rationalize, it thinks it is starving, and is going to react in a way so as to preserve itself. That reaction (unfortunately for our frail psyches) usually includes a postponement of weightloss, and quite possibly a slight weight gain.

Two very important things to remember when you start to despair...

1. Weight is not the same as fat. You can weigh the same, or more, and be less fat than you were. This will almost guaranteed be true multiple times.

2. Like investments, you can't look at things in the short term. This is why I hate the scale, it's such a short term de/motivator. You're looking for a sustained average of a couple of pounds a week. So far, you're way above that average. 5 lbs a week cannot be sustained.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
