Katie713 423 Posted May 17, 2012 For those that are interested, on the official Atkins website they have a comprehensive food list indicating full nutritional information including Carbs/Fiber/Net Carbs that can be used for meal planning. I find this to be helpful in meal planning and of course their regular guidelines are on the last pages for each stage. I never thought I might have to use this info as a basis for contined weight loss, but I could tell that with the higher carbs, MY body was losing very slowly or stalling out. So whatever resources are there for me to use, it can only help me. Right now I'm trying to stay between 40-50 grams of carbs to see if that helps my weight loss. I see the NUT next Monday and will ask if I also need to increase calories. I'm losing slowly at 800 calories/ 80-90 grams of Protein, 64+oz of fluids. Pinky Green 260 Posted July 20, 2012 I am pre-op and am trying to diet and lose a little weight. I have started lowering the carbs because I know I will have to lower them now or after surgery. I have lowered carbs before and didn't seem to have this reaction but now I am tired and always falling asleep and I've only cut down to about 40 or 50 carbs a day. And I haven't lost any weight yet. I am making sure I get enough Protein by drinking a Premier Protein (30g protein, 3g fat, 2 net carbs and 3 fiber) twice a day, Breakfast and lunch, I also have a V8 juice for breakfast (12g carb, 3g protein) and a Kroger Carb Control Yogurt (about 3 g carb for lunch), then I've had cheese and a low fat ice cream (28g carb) - so that's about 40 g carb - I try to have a vegetable and a meat with no bread, potatoes or rice for dinner. I've only been low carbing for about 3 days and haven't seen any loss yet. But I think the first 2 days I had more like 60g carb.. I'm trying to gradually bring it down until I get used to having under 30 g per day which is Phase I Intervention in the Protein Power Diet book. So I'm not too far off. After a week or so maybe I will be used to this and not be so tired.
daniellec 10 Posted August 5, 2012 I have lost 75lbs since 2 weeks before surgery. I STILL struggle with Protein, meals Snacks, everything. I have tried all foods to "test the water" post surgery. tuna and I are no longer friends. I tried one bite of wheat bread once, bread and I are no longer friends. I will eat maybe 1/4 c whole wheat Pasta with shrimp sometimes for dinner. I will eat a small whole wheat tortilla for Breakfast with an egg and less than an ounce of cheese. I then have a handful of high Protein granola with a greek yogurt cup Oikos is my favorite. lunch and I struggle A LOT . SOmetimes I have chicken salad with crackers, sometimes, just reduced fat club crackers . When afternoon hungries hit, i try a Protein Bar, sometimes I just drink Water. I find that I am not hungry but very very oral, if that makes sense. I do chew gum, which helps me. I am having trouble with fluids and not getting enough. So that is my 5 month journey !!!!
