Today is my 2 month anniversary and I am so happy that I went thru with the surgery. I have been truly blessed that I haven't had any real complications. I have felt bad a couple of times but nothing major.

I am down 37 pounds, depending on what time of the day I weigh.

food still isn't that big of a deal to me. I eat so little that I don't really count calories or keep track of carbs. I do eat my Protein first then vegtables then last I go for carbs.

I still have a hard time getting in all my fluids. I feel like I am drinking all day and only getting about half of what I should be. I try to do a little better each day, some days are better than others though.

Overall I feel great and can't wait to see what the summer brings, I am finally going to be able to go on a bike ride with my daughter and not worry about passing out.

Anyone else 2 months out? How are you doing?

wow - sounds like you are off to a great start! I had my surgery on April 4 (just about 1 week) I must say I feel pretty good. Much better than I expected. I am on full liquids now and feel that I am having a hard time with the Protein shakes, it takes me almost 2 hours to drink it. I seem to do better with yogart and pudding. How is it when you start eating real food, I can't understand why I can eat a container of yogart which is 5 oz with no problem yet they tell me you can only eat 2-3 oz of food at a time.

My weightloss has been tremendous - I have lost 27 lbs since the two week pre-op diet. It really is amazing.

I just can't wait to eat regular food again -

Yogurt is more of a slider food - the denser the Protein the less you will be able to eat of it. You most likely could not eat 5 oz of chicken or tuna :)

I understand completely; yogurt, mashed potatoes go down real easy. When I eat meat though I can only do a couple of bites and I'm full. When I first had the surgery I thought something was wrong because I could eat mashed potatoes with no problem. I remember thinking did they do the surgery correct because I shouldn't be able to eat this much. Yea - that all changed as soon as I started eating meat. Now if I get in 3 bites of meat and a couple of vegies I'm doing good.

Congratulations on your success, you're doing great. you'll be eating regular food sooner than you think. I know it seems like forever during the soft mushy stage.

Thanks for the explanation, sound logical. I know that eventually I am going to be happy I did this, but right now I am having some regrets. How can you get all that Protein in when you can only eat 3-4 bites??? that sound scary and sad. No matter how much I read and prepared for surgery I think I will mourn food. Do you understand this? did you have these problems too? I know that how I eat made me fat and that I have to change my eating habits but right now all I think about is when I can eat something and feel somewhat normal again.

Glad to see that you're all losing and doing well! Isn't it great to watch the scale go down, down, down?!

PatKaye, The liquid stage is the toughest. You WILL be able to get all of your Protein in sooner than you think. Right now your sleeve is swollen and won't let you do much dense food, but the restriction will ease up as you heal. Liquids do go down so much easier than solids will. Just stick with your doctor's instructions so that you heal well and, in a few weeks, you'll barely remember how hard it was to get Protein in daily.

Good luck to you all! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
