Wondering When My Weight Loss Will Kick In.

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on March 22. To date, I have gone from 244 down to 217. Most people would be thrilled with that but I'm not. The day that I was sleeved, I weighed 228. I was losing more without the sleeve. I have experienced the most painful Constipation known to man! I don't know why I'm not losing. Can anyone help me figure out why?

Get yourself some Miralax to help with that Constipation. It's common, and once you get yourself regular it'll help. . .are you exercising? Drinking your fluids, following your doctors advice? Some of us just are slow losers. . . and put away the scale, weighing everyday doesn't help either. . . try to weigh only 1 x per week or every other week. . .i'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised. . . good luck

You think 11 lbs in 2-1/2 weeks is not losing? I think that is great. Hang in there and don't be in a rush to drop the weight instantly. It's not realistic and it will just get you discouraged. I know it is hard to be patient, I can relate to that.....my surgery isn't until 5/21 and it seems like my life is on hold. I know that it will be a few months before a dramatic change. My hope is that I can lose 17 lbs in 1 month and than I figure it will be more like 7-8 p/month after that but at that rate I should be close to goal by Christmas, way better than any other diet I have been on. Hang on and see how you feel 3 months out.

For the Constipation you should check with your Dr. I don't think they want you to have severe constipation and straining (sorry tmi). It seems like my nutritionist said if that was to happen, I should use baby food prunes but you better check with your Dr. or nutritionist to be sure. I know they can give you something to help.

I have been following my doctor's orders as closely as possible. I walk and log my food. I have a hard time with the Protein. I'm very frustrated because I want to lose weight and I'm not.

Sentos, you are losing weight! Try, try, try to focus on the positive. The surgery is not magic, but over time, the weight will come off. Mine comes off in ounces over days and weeks.

Remember, the first major drop is from Water and puffiness when you go on the liquid diet. Once that junk is out, now you are losing the real weight.

Sentos,

I can relate. I was sleeved on 3/12/12, and have only lost 12 lbs. It is so frustrating. But, on the other hand, that's an average of 3 lbs a week, which isn't too bad. 3 lbs a week over 6 months is about 75 lbs, now that sounds good. At least the scale is moving in the right direction, prior to surgery, it always moved in the wrong direction. Chin up, we'll do fine.

Thank you for the encouragement. I have been becoming really depressed. I don't want to be an emotional eater.

I'm struggling too... I'm 3.5 weeks out, lost 14... I've been stalled for days... then I'll lose 1-2, then stall again. Meanwhile, the others that had surgery on the same day (March 22) are reporting 25 lb losses or more! It's so not fair and makes me sad and worried and afraid that I did this and will still be fat...then I realize that it would have taken me 2 months to lose 14 lbs before. It's important to remember that some people lose slower than others... I just wish I were not one of them. I get it. I really do.

"Slow and steady wins the race".......Sayings don't hang around for decades if they're not true  . Keep smiling, look at this over the long term.

It's important to not compare your journey to others. No two bodies are the same. You'll lose the weight ~ can't wait to hear your progress months from now!

Thank you. I am a nervous wreck. I am beating myself up. Everyone is expecting me to be bone thin and honestly so am I. I appreciate everyone's kind words and advice.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
