Recommended Posts

I did it! Am now officially sleeved less than 24 hours ago. I did have nausea after, even with patch behind my ear, it's Better now, got up twice to walk and that helps. Could not get ice chips until after midnight, and must do one chip at a time.....burps hurt some,

I am three days post op, and my surgery went really well. Still having gas pains and learned that cold fluids churns my stomach. Does anyone have any ideas for the full liquids phase? It's so weird how I'm not hungry at all, usually I would be grazing all day! So far I've lost 6lbs since my surgery. Oh and tried to drink Protein today and gagged...any suggestion on Protein drinks?

The first 2 days I had 2 little 2 ounce plastic cups one with Powerade and the other with cytomax (protien drink). I would sip one and then from the other. I also had 2 rocks glasses full with cold Powerade and cytomax. It takes me all day but I get in my liquids and my protien. Just alternate from one to the other it makes it easier to get down. By day 3 I just have 2 glasses one with my protien drink and then one with powerade. Keep them cold. I just keep adding ice.

Post op, I ended up staying in the hospital a few days but I'm feeling fine, just trying to get used to.drinking the required amount, other than that I'm fine. Does taking the drain out hurt?

You know what, my husband bought me some body fortress Protein Shots last night. I tried one this morning and it tastes like liquid Jello with a hint of whey. It's a whole lot easier to down versus a serving of whey Protein Powder which would take me all day. I have been trying to get in 60-80grams of Protein and this really helps with healing and weight loss. I am one week post op and have loss a total of 14lbs! Couldn't be happier B)

I left the hospital after 34 hours. I wish I'd have stayed an extra day. However, logistically was better for me to leave earlier. For R&R, calm, relaxing and getting used to the new you, stay as long as u can. Heck, where else can u rest and sleep all day with no one being upset by it?

Congratulations!

Had my surgery on mon the 23rd

God I wasn't prepared for the pain

What type of pain are you having? My only pain is from gas though I am sure that will go away at some point! My coworker used soda to get rid of it but of course we can't. I haven't taken meds since I got home for pain. I do have discomfort moving around and sleeping. I hope your pain stops soon. Stacie

Have your bowels started moving? Not to get too personal, but I made sure of that by day three. That really helped with all my gas pains. I was April 16 and doing ok, but I still have a bit of pain in my large upper right incision. Hang in there. It really does get better and walk, even if it is only short periods. Also Gas-ex really helps. Take care. Karen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
