Eating* FOr those of you that have been sleeved for a while. Can you eat anything? As like half a slice a pizza or half a burger or cpl of fries. I'm not saying to eat this junk all the time but can you eat once in a blue. I'm 4 days post op and I was sad thinking wow I won't be able to eat these things. But then my 1 year post uncle said he eats everything just very small portion. Like the other day he had half of one slice of pizza for lunch. So that made me better. Let me know guys thanks.

I can eat almost 2 slices of pizza if it's thin crust. 1 if it's thick. A whole cheeseburger from McD's; half a Big Mac.One open-faced sandwich (e.g. salami or peanut butter).

Wow!!! Thanks for the info. I'm sorta sad about the food. But hearing these things makes me happy. I got sleeved this pass Thursday April 5.

In time you can eat those things but not for a considerable amount of time. The bread is your worst enemy and the hardest thing to get to go through your sleeve. I am almost 4 months post op and still have not had any bread. I have had pizza but just at the toppings off and left the crust.

Just started my 6th week post op and I had 2 pieces of pizza tonight - well not really - just like IowaAndy - I ate the toppings only. NO crust yet. 15 pepperonis and 1.5 oz of cheese. LOL - made it easy to log in MyFitnessPal.

Don't worry you won't have to do without your favorite stuff forever - one of two things will happen - either you will not even like it anymore or you will indulge in it but at much smaller quantities then in the past.

I doubt I will even try bread for quite a while based on what I have read on here and how I know other foods fill me up, just the thought of the bread swelling up is enough to deter me for a little longer!

Good luck!!

Don't be sad about the food. You will eat the things you love again just in really small amounts. I am 2 months post op and can eat pretty much anything. I would say I am the exception though because from what I have read most people seem to have some food aversions and also things there sleeve just cant handle like bread and dairy. However my sleeve likes it all and can process it I just chew chew chew.

I was really sad and depressed at first too. Just get through your liquids and let yourself heal. You will be ok..

Don't rush it, tho. Follow your dr's advice about progressing in stages because trying to force the issue and eating solids too early is miserable pain. I know.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
