Can't sleep right now so I thought that I'd finally sign up on this site. I just had surgery 08/07/06. Still trying to get my meds worked out and I'm excited :clap2: as well as nervous about this step. Was in alot of pain the day of surgery but would be great to hear ideas to get back to "normal" about my daily life. I'm so glad that I don't feel alone anymore!

I'm New as well, Scheduled for 9-14-06. Looking forward to it I think, having Surgery in Mexico with Rumbaut. Lots of question still... approval was very quick and shockingly sudden :) . Less than 24 hours for the approval, so I'm still getting used to the idea.

All of you have done so well :clap2: , I can only hope I too can will do the same. Looking forward not back.

Congrads to you both. One thing that was good for me. Sitting in a recliner made getting up much easier. The bed and couch were no no's. Take care and know you are not alone.

Welcome to the both of you,

In a very short while you'll be experienced bandsters and losing weight right and left. Advice? Sip, walk, let yourself heal the first few weeks and try not to worry about losing weight. If you have a question, ask, we've all been there done that type thing.

It will go by sooooo fast. I too went to Mexico and I mean from the day I checked into it I think one month later I was banded. So far, No problems, none, my first fill was last week, 1.50 in a 9.75 inamed low profile port. Mexico was fabulous as well and everyone there.

Hope all goes great for you and I will keep your date jotted down and will be praying for you for a non eventful surgery and a quick recovery.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to PM me or email me.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
