I had my surgery January 10,2012 and have slowed down a lot, but I am still losing so I cannot be too concerned. The fact last I am not going up or getting too focused on the speed of losing. This is a big change for me. I also know that slow is not a bad thing, it is easier on the body when you lose a lot of weight slowly. I am very sure this was the right decison for me. I also know that the people on this site are very helpfu. If you search for topics about slow weight loss you will find some great ideas to help. I needed the reminder to track exactly what I am eating. I already knew it was not a lot, but I needed to be reminded about Protein first and there are many discussions about that. Good luck to you and I hope you find just the encouragement you need to stay happy, healthy and know you are losing exactly what you are suppose to.

hi dee from down under :)

Once you have lost a bunch of weight, you do have a tendency to start losing weight a little slower. But don't worry you should be able to continue and lose the weight, it will just take a little time, this can be common for many.

g'day

Tulip star - I had the lap band 11 years ago I was only 22 yrs old and for 10 yrs I suffered vomiting each time I ate regardless what it was, last year April I had it removed I had major life threatening issues - the band was a complete fail along with the surgeon that did it as years later I found out by my sleeve surgeon that the band wasn't even on correctly, after removing the band I waited to heal and had the sleeve it was the best decision I made however I was told I had to work harder to lose the weight due to the band .. Hence why I'm so afraid I won't lose anymore - I'm even counting my calories and eating less than 1000 calories per day not sure if this is alot or enough ? Just scared of failure again i suppose..

Ahh that felt better being able to tell someone my story and my fears - its not something I can talk to many people about as I feel ashamed

You ahouldnt fel ashamed! You did nothingwrong! My sleeve surgeon told me I would not have trouble losing weight and I would "blow my band weight loss out of the water". Meaning I will lose a lot more and I have already in just 6 weeks! My dr said 600 to 1000 calories day plus Vitamins.

My doc told me the first six months was the "honeymoon phase" after that the weight slows down and when you have to start paying better attention to what you are eating. Just get your Protein in, Water and watch your carb sugar and fat intake and the weight will still come off :-D

I started off at 110 kg, had surgery in Feb 2011 -- took me until nearly a year out to get to 70 kg, so be patient, you'll still lose! I'm still losing sloooowwwwly...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
