Mean ol' doctor.

Recommended Posts

I went in to my gyn yesterday for my annual (more like 16 months!) pap and exam, and he was SO pleased for me that I'm losing. He's a sweetie, although he did get a funny look on his face when he was palpating my abdomen and felt this lump! I said, "Are you feeling my port?" and then he laughed and said he didn't realize the port was so close to the surface...he thought they put it deeper. He's been so supportive and was thrilled with my almost 40 pounds gone. We have the right to shop for doctors just like we shop for other things...it's an important relationship and we deserve one who will be positive about our efforts and not critical.

Congratulations on your amazing weight loss!

I think that no matter what your doctor's intentions are, if you do not feel comfortable with her, then it's time to find a new doctor.

Hi Lapbandit,

Just Imagine How Frustrated The Doc. Will Be Next Time When You Are "thinner" Than Her. What An Unprofessional Person. But Unfortunately There Are A Lot Of Incompetent Around As Mediocrity Gets More And More Tolerated Everywhere.

So, Forget The B**ch, You Are Worth Too Much For That. Keep Up The Great Work And Remember That At The End You Are The Only One Enjoying Daily Victories At There True Value.

I Wish You Can Find A Pcp Like Mine. He Had A Lap Band Surgery Done On Himself 4 Years Ago And He Is The One Who Told Me About The Band To Begin With.

Good Luck And Ciao...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
