OMG! I am going nuts here. I already had to miss the passover seder because I am on my pre-op liquid diet. I let that slide, because there isn't much to be done about it and I just avoided the situation completely. However, I have been without solid food for 7 days now and I sat with my son and dyed eggs for an hour and a half. All I could think about was egg salad, deviled eggs etc. etc. and all the stuff my husband is going to make with those eggs that I can't begin to touch. I know I will be getting all of it back soon enough, but it was sheer hell. After he goes to bed, I have to mess with candy and do his damn basket!!! I picked stuff this year I really don't much like, but right now everything looks good. I am not even really a candy person and I swear I can smell the chocolate through the sealed containers. Tonight, my husband is going to put the candy in the eggs and tomorrow we will hide them along with some of the ones we died tonight. Then in the morning I have to deal with all of this all over again. On top of this, I feel horribly guilty because my husband isn't eating much. I keep telling him to go eat, I know he is hungry and he says he just wants to be near me. I came around the corner today and he has a fork in a can of ravioli and he stops cold, like a kid caught in a candy jar. I haven't gotten on him for it, I have just been avoiding food. If anything, I have been telling him I know he is not eating enough. He keeps doing this anyway. I can't wait until my surgery Monday so I can stop being SO hungry. It doesn't matter how much I drink, my stomach growls SO loudly all the time. It even woke me up last night. I have lost 11 lbs in 7 days on this diet and I am very pleased with that. Today is the first day I truly got cranky about this though and tomorrow is not going to be any easier. Sigh.

I understand completely....I am on day 10 and will be cooking the dinner tomorrow for Easter and watching the kids eat their candy....All I want at this point is a fork full of mashed potatoes or something...I can't wait to eat any food besides liquids. I am done 13 lbs so far.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
