Having "girl" Problems - Ladies, Please Respond!

Recommended Posts

I had surgery 5 weeks ago and since then, I have had 3 full periods! I usually have 1-2 periods a year because I have an IUD. I know fat stores estrogen and therefore loosing weight quickly can alter hormones. I just want to see if this happened to any other women and how long after surgery did your periods go back to the way they were pre surgery.

It happens unfortunately. I had mine about 2 weeks early and it lasted 3.5 weeks. Yuck!! It could also have to do with the surgery itself, or it could be the estrogen. If you are worried, check with your doctor. But I think you'll find lots of replies that say the same.

I just had my surgery on April 2nd and I got my period 2 days after surgery which was 4 days early. It is SOOOO fricking heavy and disgusting. I thought it was because of the heparin shots though so we will see. I had to stop taking them because they made my tongue swell up. Im hoping it tapers off because this is a little annoying.

In the first three months post op I had 6 periods. It was annoying and draining, but I was and still am so thankful to have them after not having one for so long prior to surgery because of PCOS. Remember they are a blessing! *Shriek, I know, I know...*

I've had two periods since my surgery on 3/15. The doc said it was a combination of the anesthesia and the shock to our systems from major surgery.

I am on the Mirena IUD. My surgery is on May 1st. I haven't had a period in over 6 months, so does this mean once I have my surgery I will get my period

I have an IUD as well, and I've had a period since my 2nd month out. They haven't been very crazy, but I normally don't have them so the fact that they started again is a title disappointing lol.

More than likely. That's the IUD I have and before surgery, I hadn't had a period for close to a year, and it's right on schedule now. Mine is slowly lightening up and going away again though. The first time it started after surgery, it really freaked me out though, b/c I hadn't had a period like that since I was in high school and I had actually forgot what it felt like.

Do you think that not getting your period can cause weight gain? Are you not allowed to use tampons after surgery?

I have the Mirena IUD too. I started my first period in over a year about 3 days after surgery. I did not use tampons at that time because I was still in pain and just didnt want to use them. Then, I had a second period about 2 1/2 weeks after surgery and I did use tampons with no problem. My pre surgery instructions from my surgeon were to bring a couple of pads with me to the hospital because a lot of women do get periods right after surgery. I was just unprepared to have 3 periods since surgery 5 weeks ago.

Our bodies are being inundated with atypical levels of hormones right now. Think of what a little stress can do, let alone surgery, starvation-level weightloss, etc.

The last day of my period was the day before surgery, so I have no idea how TOM will be affected, but I have Mittelschmerz Syndrome (it hurts me, some times a lot, to ovulate) and this morning had some tweaks that I associate with a lesser attack. But I don't (ever) ovulate this early, so who knows what our wacky systems are doing.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
