hi guys well I survived sort of. I went the night before my surgery to see world trade cente which was to take me off of concentrating on me,,then i came home after eating burger king AND popcorn in the theatre and then made NACOS and ate those til the time struck midnight.

I didn't hear my alarm clock go off so I left my house 145 mins later than i thoughti should have with out a shower..cuz now I can't have one til sunday.

So I get to TBLC, Kathy was lovely as were the rest of the staff. NIsrine came in early and I told her about my food fest pretty much since the bbq on monday and she said, oh I am going to hear them page my name when they open you up and say "did you tell her about the diet"?

Then the anaesthetist comes in he seemed nice, so I go to the OR and he could not get my iv in,,;ets see we are up to 5 tries and at this point I am thinking this is not a good omen and they say that I ama nurse who knws too much, yup! then the anaesthetist says he will just put me out then do my iv, and I said umm no I don't feel comfortable with that and I am starting to want to call this off and get off the table ..... so they are all around me, and dr yau holds my hand and I apologized for being wimpy, but hell I can do an Iv in my sleep so I was getting nervous,,,, so I am ready to leave but I could feel myself giving into the medication so I had no choice and thenwoke up later in recovery. As for my LIVER., I was fine, no probs, and i have been private messaged by some who ate liek I did the night before and did not have a specific diet, just ate til surgery day, so luckily I was fine. I am uncomfortable,. in alot of pain. Just took 1 tab of tylenol 3 every 4 hours til today ( feels worse) and took 1 tab of demerol, but i feel yucky. so this is the start i guess. Thanks for your support and i hope to be sounding happier soon. And mand anytime you need to come for a fill or anything you can stay here.

Way to go Kim, you did it!!! I found the first week after surgery I was hooched, but then I started feeling great. That first week for me felt like an eternity, I just wanted to get on it and start losing weight. I don't have any advice on how to make yourself more comfortable, only that it will get better and you WILL feel normal again. Well, as normal as we can right? Good job!

Hey Kim...glad to hear that the surgery went well!!! A new beginning for you! Don't worry...you'll feel so much better in a couple/few days. I didn't have any of the gas pain/shoulder pain etc...so can't help ya there. But the heating bad was a godsend on my abdomen area.

Be good to yourself over the next few days.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
