Shelby21, I am glad to see that you are feeling better - it gives me hope. I am four weeks out and I have has many moments of regret and shed alot of tears over the last few weeks. I had very little pain, but I do have tons of acid reflux and I have absolutely nooooo energy, despite the Vitamins and Protein. I seem to be a little depressed, and I wonder if I will ever feel normal again?

I find it incredibly difficult when I eat with my family or co-workers...I am done after like 2 minutes, maybe 3 or 4 bites and yet I have to sit there and continue to watch them stuff their faces for another 10 minutes. I so desperately want to eat more. I have literally cried a couple of times at the dinner table because I can't "enjoy" eating with them.

Does anyone have any good tips for getting over this? And how long did it take you guys before you started to feel "normal" again?

i am 7 1/2 weeks out and I am still tired some in the afternoons but it is getting better. I have noticed the further out I get the Less i can eat. Just 1 or 2 bites and my stomach feels sooo full and I feel bad. I am eating Proteins, no "junk food" in over 2 months. i have discovered that eggs do not sit well with me anymore they did at first but now not so much. @i_did_it, I understand what you are talking about, I have noticed my wife tries to eat very fast so I am not just sitting there while she eats but I tell her that isn't healthy and I am okay, but sometimes I am not okay and want to EAT!!!!. To OP I am glad you are starting to feel better about your choice. In the end it will all be good I hope for you. I hope for a healthier more acitve life for us all!!!!

Talk to the doctor if in pain... Also WALK WALK WALK' date=' if it is the gas it will help your body absorb it[/quote']

I was hurting in the same place 6 days after surgery, my hubby reminded me that they told me to walk ...I started walking more and sitting up in the recliner and two days later it was much better ,

I dont know if I will ever get back to normal, I guess I just need to make a new normal for myself. It should have never been normal for me to sit there and stuff my face til I felt miserable. i do miss certain foods that I feel like ill never be able to enjoy again...breads, pizza, burgers....really anything with bread, bun, or tortilla...its impossible for me to enjoy these. I think its best, I took advantage of these foods for way too long. Ive been walking and exercising more. it does make me feel better.

OOOOOOOO, look at your ticker NOW!!

I eat pizza. I just eat the topping off an tear a tiny pice off of the back crust. I also make my own pizza using whole wheat tortillas as the "crust."

I eat burgers and tacos. I only have 1 corn tortilla or two of the tiny carne asada ones or 1/4 of a whole grain bun. It's enough.

When I go hiking I have 1/2 slice of Trader Joes Rustic bread with Peanut Butter. I have to have extra carbs for mountain hiking.

We just have to be smart with carbs.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
