I am the exact same way. I am only 60 to 70 pounds over weight and ii am alreay starting to feel guilty about this whole thing befor having surgery..i am starting to second guess because it is so permanent but the thought of just getting bigger and bigger makes me very sad. I have one son that is very over weight and i think in my mind i want to go thru this to see hoe it feels so that maybe i can help him also. He is only 14 and it breaks myy heart to see him like that. All my other kids have a good weight..so we will see. I cantt chicken out now. My surgery is scheduled for april 16.

I too feel this way! Just under 5'3 and 188 lbs. do I have to do something this permanent?? Yes I do. Or else I'd already be thin! In fact, I'm proud of those of us who are NOT morbidly obese taking the reigns of our health and gaining control. In another 10 years (I am 42) these extra 65 or so lbs will mean diabetes, heart disease, etc. For me, this is a preventative measure to keep myself from developing those problems! I am a huge overeater and I see this as a gift to help me overcome that. Hang in there and keep writing on these boards!! It's a huge help.

I'm scheduled for June 14. :)

I am scheduled for June 15. My stats are pretty close to yours: 5' 185 lbs LOVE to eat.

I am a band revision and was a huge failure because of how I like to over eat.

Let's stay in touch since our dates and stats are so close.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
