3rd time lucky!

Just been along for my first fill! Had to wait ages for the doctor to turn up which was bad as i was getting so nervous.. so anyway it finally comes round to my turn and i'm shaking like a leaf ( i know.. i'm a wimp..) and then i laid down on the bed and he pressed around a bit to find my port. Once he had found it he cleaned the area then produced this HUGE needle :faint: . He pressed around a bt then put the needle in.. i must admit it did hurt a little bit but not terribly painful then he took the needle out and asked me to stand in front of the flouroscope thingy and i had to drink that discusting stuff and he watched it go down through the florouscope (sp?!) and declared that my band was still wide open! So back i went to the blooming table then he cleaned the area again then poked the needle in again (which actually hurt less that time!) then i repeated as before but this time when i drunk the stuff it didnt go through the band at all so it was much too tight! sooo .. you guessed it!.... back i went to the table and needle poked back in and he took a tiny bit out and then when i stood in front of the flouroscope and drank the yukky stuff it went through just right.. a very small stream so i was very relieved! Phew! he first put in 1cc then upped it to 2 but it was too much so he took out 1/2 a cc then he was happy. so i have 1.5 cc at the mo.. To be honest i prefer that he checked it out there and then instead of just doing the one injection and sending me away wide open.. this way its kinda more accurate! Lets hope i see some results!! I'm on my way to looserville! whoop!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
