My surgeon told me that I could start back with one cup right away, but I am trying to kick caffiene so haven't gone back to it. I have enough trouble getting all my Water in, coffee would just not help with that whole necessity.

I have to tell you though, there are mornings when I REALLY could use some. :)

I drink a little fruit juice and club soda. Diet soda gives me carb cravings. Diet soda with aspartame is really no good for you.

People with a lot of reflux and heartburn should stay away. I don't have any trouble with carbonation. i just burp. Sorry if TMI.

I was drinking coffee in my chocolate Protein shake two weeks out. YUM mocha!

They gave me coffee in the hospital during my recuperation, so... :-) I'm a caffeine hound, I freely admit it, and I've been enjoying it all along. No rule against it from my surgeon, but you should follow your doc's rules!

I started having caffeine at 2 months out. but technically I wasn't supposed to have it until I can drink 64 oz of Water a day. (which I don't)

Since I don't know how to start a new thread, What about soda? Does anyone out there drink diet soda again? I'm dying for a diet coke!

I would be careful with the soda. The main concern is that the carbonation "inflates" your stomach and over time will stretch it back out. I miss Ginger Ale the most so I feel you on that :)

those of you who crave coffee have you ever tried dandylion tea? it taste basically like an instant coffee and i dont think it has caffiene though but does have an anti inflamitory agent naturally.. i drink with some non dairy Creamer and truvia and it curbs the crave with the sensation..

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
