Me being the snarky person that I am would probably say a little zinger back at them everytime they stuck their nose in..

I would tell "petite pudgy" that you can eat off the same container for DAYS and be more than happy you aren't eating all those CARBS and making yourself feel all sluggish..

You should have told "skinny potbelly"...that yes...you plan on ONLY eating 1 ice cream sandwich but that honestly you probably wouldn't get down half before you would be stuffed so you could give the left over to her if she would like.

As for "sneaky vegan"..I would have said...I am SURE I do not have any complications...in fact I have NEVER felt better in my life...but thank you for your concern...then point out that her beef gravy smells divine!

That's just me though...cause judgemental people piss me off!

These are people you work with? It's highly inappropriate for them to be commenting on your food or your health. They need to back up off you.

It's so sad when people feel bad about themselves and the choices they are making they will always reflect that back on other people

. My step mom tormented me as child about my weight to the point that I was not allowed to touch food unless she approved I was not even allowed in the kitchen.. needless to say I have had issues with food for the last 23 years. Now that I am finally losing weight she refuses to even speak to me..lol.. I have tried to call and say hi but it goes to voicemail everytime. Now she is the one who is over weight and diabetic and having all kinds of health issues. I say owell its my time to take care of myself. My sistr who has also had issues with weight is having a hard time with me losing also. She has made several comments on me being smaller than her and she is freaking out..

I just think its sad.. why not just be happy for me losing weight and being healthy...

I think you should mess with them a bit.. maybe help them realize how horrible they are being.

Didn't those three pot-stirrers share one eyeball? Or am I thinking of the Greek Fates?

I live with someone like this. She is quite heavy and recently had a baby. She is always talking about how she needs to go back on her diet and she needs to do this and do that... but she's saying all this while gorging herself on ice cream and leftover chinese. Then she'll be like, want a cookie? You said you are allowed too, why won't you have one?"

The other day we were talking about something that came on the news and she was like "since I know you, its like wow look how skinny she is, but if i didn't know you I would just think you are a regular person. I know you still have to tone up more and stuff. If I was a stranger I wouldn't think you were slim". I was actually pretty upset because hello... i wear a size 6 now! SIX. I have never worn that number before and yeah, I still have some work to do and I want to get to my goal weight but to say that was so wrong.

It can be very annoying. I try to just ignore it. But it does get really frustrating. Sorry you have to deal with this on a regular basis.

Ohhh my women can be so catty. It is one thing I hate about my own gender. I find it absolutely disgusting to be around catty or backstabbing people, which is why I only have a few friends. I feel like it's such a waste of time and energy. This is why I love working from home and not dealing with catty female co-workers.

All I can say is just smile and hold your head up when they say something annoying. Sometimes I think the best thing to do is to say nothing at all and simply grin. If they see it doesn't bother you in the least, it will either shut them up or piss them off enough to stew and wallow in their own jealousy.

Blackberry is so right. It's such a great statement. I am so thankful I don't have to be around people like that.

Girl. You are doing fantastic. Keep it up and we all need to be primming ourselves in the mirrors walking past sliding glass doors and when we see a reflection of our bodies. We rock! ;)

@ Emily, actually I think this all the time about myself, I'm amazed that I have lost 125 pounds (!!) and know that people who don't know my story probably see me on the street as an average chubby woman. Far from making me feel bad (maybe frustrated sometimes), it serves to remind me that we all have backstories and you never know until you know a person, so don't judge.

Backstory: I'm 12 pounds away from the lowest weight I've been since I was 18 (I'm 55). I work mainly with three others: A skinny one with a potbelly, a skinny vegan who sneaks meat, and a petite slightly pudgy.

Petite pudgy looks at my lunch and says, "Everyday, the food level in your containers gets higher and higher." I look at her chips, PB&J, and apple, and tell her that I pack 2 -3 days' worth of food in one container so that I don't have to rush around every morning to put a lunch together. She rolls her eyes.

I feel this...twice now we have gone out to eat since my surgery Feb 27, 2012...both times my husband has made note I was eating like a pig, yes I had 3 shrimp and 3 dime size pieces of chicken and a Tablespoon of Beans.... second time I had 1/4 of a flautas with chicken and I was finished....The second time he said your just gonna blow your stomach up.... I said in a nice but firm mannor...wow, you need me to get you some reading material? He said to me wow gotta be B....y at me just for asking questions....? well if they had been a real question but he is a major researccher and I am certain he has done his homework.Ugg why do they gotta be that way....cna't they just be happy for us, trying to get our health and weight back into check so we can live longer and healthier lives.I just ignore him, it seems to work, just pretend you did not hear them....Skinny potbelly, who used to sneer as she looked me up and down, asked at an office birthday, "You're not going to have just ONE ice-cream sandwich? Really?" She is developing "bra bulge," and she wants me to eat crap.

Sneaking vegan grills me for signs of sleeve complications. "Are you SURE that you're doing okay? You're not sick?" Meanwhile, she eats mostly corn, potatoes, and Pasta, now with a bit of meat sauce.

Grrrr.

Just keep smiling my dear... it makes them wonder what you're really thinking. If they only knew. ;)

These women are miserable and probably feeling very self conscious being around you, as well they should. Just keep doing you!

I know a woman who has been a personal trainer in the past, taught pilates, and has her phd in metabolic studies. She is about 5'5" and a size 2/4. Yet, every time we hang out, she inevitably brings up how she has recently felt fat/bloated, how she is cutting out this or that from her diet, how her patients in a weight loss study she is conducting don't do very well, etc. etc. Basically I am starting to get irritated with her. Is she so flipping insecure that she needs constant positive reinforcement about how good she looks? That's revolting. Am I being used (AGAIN) as the fat friend so when we are in public she can feel good about herself? F*** that S***. The next time she says anything like that, I am going to say exactly those above sentences to her. >=I

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
