10 months ago I had surgery and I've only lost 90 lbs. My friend had it done & we both weighed the same amount and she's already lost 135lbs. What am I doing wrong?? Please help because I am becoming discouraged! I need to start a diet maybe??

First of all 90lbs is a very good loss. Second everyone is different. You cannot compare yourself to someone else or you will always be discouraged. Are you taking enough Protein in, drinking enough Fluid, exercising, or just ask yourself what you are eating. Also you cannot starve your sleeve. Do not give up you haven't even hit a year yet. Be happy you have lost 90 do not be in competition with someone else. When there is a competition there is always a loser and you are not a loser (in a negative way). Change your way of thinking and say "I have lost 90lbs!!" Stress will make you gain weight so relax and work on yourself without comparing yourself to someone else. :)

Thanks so much!! I'm under TONS of stress and I crave sweets & I eat them. I do not drink enough and I know I'm not eating right, however, I do exercise 3 times a week but I know I could do more. I will change my eating habits because I do feel myself going back to my before surgery habits and that's not good at all. I need to start a diet or something. I'm just not happy with my results thus far.

You are welcome. You can do this! You just have to set your mind to it. Do not give up and go back! You did not go through this surgery to go back to old habits and sabotage your own success. Stay positive! Its not a race its a lifestyle change. :)

Diva

are you kidding me? 90 lbs in 10 months is terrific. remember...never compare your weight loss to others ok?

Your sleeve is working fine - don't look for a different weight loss program

I am sorry you are feeling sad and discouraged but., believe me, congratlations are in order. you are doing great.

continued good luck on your journey through life

kathy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
