Tips And Tricks For 64 Oz Liquid Requirement?

Recommended Posts

I am almost 2 months out and struggle with my Water. Pre surgery i would chug water and down 16 oz in no time. Now I sip sip sip but it is slow and i get bored and stop or forget. I dont like artificial sweeteners, I love iced tea but fear the dehidrating qualities. I drank a Vitamin water the other day and it was so good and I finished quickly but so much sugar. Does anyone have good ideas on a varity of ways to get in liquids without artificial sweetener since these dont go down well for me.

Make iced tea with decafinated tea bags!!! I started it when I was pregnant and just never went back. Might be a good option for you, especially if you love iced tea!

Sobe and Propel both make flavored water that is 0 calories and no sugar.

I loved Sobe at first, but you can't buy it in bulk unless you go someplace like Sam's Club.

I've switched to Propel (love the berry flavor) because I can buy a 6-pack.

They taste good and one or the other is sold at most gas stations, so I can pick one up when I am on the go.

I also keep a bottle of Mio (but I'm not sure if it has artificial sugar in it) to flavor plain Water.

I was the same way when I first had surgery -- hated the taste of plain Water. I am now almost 8 months out, and I am starting to like the taste of plain water again.

You can also squeeze a little bit of fresh lemons in your Water, and maybe a packet of Truvia? Most flavored drinks have artificial sweeteners if you don't want sugar, so I don't really have any suggestions other than just Water. I love water, so this isn't really a problem for me. When I do want some flavor I will drink G2, which is light sugar or Propel regular which also has a very small amount of sugar. I do Crystal Light once in awhile, but I'll only use half a serving because full blast is just way over powering for me.

For now while your stomach is still healing, perhaps always have 4 - 16 oz bottle filled every morning. Space it out, and get down one bottle every 3 hours. I time myself when I'm working on ensuring a flush. I'll have a bottle by 9 am, then by 12pm, then by 3pm and a last one by 6 pm.

HTH!!

I was looking at the labels, and it looks like Mio at least has some sugar alcohols. I don't have the other labels to check right now.

Don't drink mio, it has PROPYLENE GLYCOL in it. That's the same ingredient they use in anti-freeze and other things we should drink.

I like some good old fashion lemon in my Water? Or there are these things called nuun tabs, I use them while I'm backpacking.

Try the Isopure fruit drinks- you can get them at GNC or at most 24hr fitness clubs or even Amazon.< /p>

They taste like Gatorade but have 40g of Protein per bottle. I just bought a case and they were only $2.50/ea.

They don't have aspartamine either.

I use crystal light iced tea with lemon and unflavored Protein Powder sini get my liquids and Protein all in one. If it still taste funny I add a crystal light lenomade and it taste great.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
