I Am Sooooo Tired...low On Protein?

Recommended Posts

I am 11 months out. I LOVE my sleeve. I have exceeded all my wildest hopes and dreams for myself when I had this surgery. No complaints here at all..

That said, I have been really tired lately. I exercise regularly (3-5 times per week) and am getting 7-9 hours of sleep a night. I have not been that strict about getting in all my Protein. I just don't count it like I used to. I am probably getting in 40-50 grams a day more or less. Has anyone experienced this? I also get light headed almost every time I go from a low position to standing. And if I sit in a hot bath or hot tub...when I get out...forget it. I have to bend over because I feel like I will black out.

Other than this...I am wearing a size 4-6 down from a tight 20. My goal was to wear a loose 8! I even shrunk a shoe size!!!

Any input is greatly appreciated!!

Living the dream,

Laura

Sounds like blood pressure issues. Are you on bp mess? If so, might be time to get off. Definitely time to go see your doc. In the mean time try getting up more slowly.

I have the same issues as feeling like I was light headed and was going to faint everytime I got up. Its not Protein its low carb. When I am doing low carb (anything under 30 grams a day) that happens. I just did a high carb couple of days without changing anything (no less than 50grams a day) and it completely went away and I kept protein the same. So try upping your carbs and see if it goes away. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
