I'm six days post op and weepy at the drop of a hat. Any idea on how long the roller coaster might last?

ANY major surgery causes these mood/hormone swings and for women, well... (smile) I truly didn't have a great deal but I was also on Zoloft because of menapause! Ha! Hang in there, it does get better~

I'm weepy too. 12 days out and it's only getting worse!

Our fat stores hormones, and now that they are all being released - and kinda like in the way you see pictures of spring run-off in the mountains you will likely continue to feel this way. Perhaps it may even get a little worse before it gets better.

However, rest assured it does eventually stop. I think I had my ups and downs for at least the first 6 months, and the height of it was in the first 2 months. But, now that I'm no longer losing weight, I'm at a very even keel.

Good luck!

I love i am going to feel better at 31 than i did at 21

It started to hit me about one month post-op. There's no delicate way to put it but the libido all of a sudden woke up. Really annoying when you're single. I had an almost teary moment this morning when I went to put on a shirt I'd been waiting to wear and I was swimming in it. It went straight to the donation pile and I'm not quite ready to face the fact that I probably need to get rid of a third of my shirts...

Excuse my language, but damn. :-( My libido is already depressingly high. Yeah I'm married, but not getting help in that department as his libido little to none.

But 6 days out, weepy and more easily irritated. The irritation is hormonal right now, though. It's not because I'm frustrated at having to be on liquids or not able to have what I want. It's involuntary and then I wanna cry. Oh Lordy... Lol

Whaaaaaaaaaaa. Hahahaha!!!

I had noticed an increase in my girly side, if you will. I have been gorging myself on chick flicks and crying. Everything makes me cry. An episode of How I Met Your Mother had me in tears.

Libido will be tough. My fiance is about 5 hours away from me and we rarely see each other, about every 3 months.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
