ShouldBlittler 89 Posted April 3, 2012 There HAVE to be people here who are unhappy that they got this surgery. If you were to persuade me NOT to get the sleeve, what arguments would you use?
PdxMan 4,292 Posted April 3, 2012 I think my top piece of advice for NOT having the surgery would be: If you are not mentally ready to change your relationship with food and believe the surgery is a magic bullet which will magically make you lose weight, then don't have the surgery. You will be sadly disappointed in yourself and the surgery. But, I was ready to change my relationship with food and this has been one of the greatest things I have ever done for myself and my family. 3 ShouldBlittler, LilMissDiva Irene and fluffylibra30 reacted to this
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted April 3, 2012 Absolutely 100% agree with PdxMan. If you aren't truly ready to take that dive, then do yourself a favor and wait it out until you are. This is NOT magic. You will still need to eat proper, you will still need to be physically active. Also, be ready for some serious head trips if you know what I mean. This. Is. Not. The. Easy. Way. Out. Other than that, I have no other reasons on why one should not get this surgery. It helped me to save my life. 2 ShouldBlittler and fluffylibra30 reacted to this
Globetrotter 1,340 Posted April 3, 2012 If a person is not financially stable, has no plan or support network in place, has not come to terms with the side-effects (antacid pills for life in some cases, eventual gall bladder removal, bowel issues in some cases), then they are not ready for this or any bariatric surgery. 1 ShouldBlittler reacted to this

I have found out I was a huge stress eater when I get stressed now all I can think about is how I want to eat but cant. I found myself today saying to myself I need to find something to help I am angry (stress build up) I have been considering waking early before everyone else and having some me time with Yoga. 1 ShouldBlittler reacted to this
Julie76 251 Posted April 3, 2012 Yep.. You have to be ready for this. I struggled with the loss of food and not being able to eat for a while but as soon as I started feeling better physically .... then mentally hands down, best choice I ever made. I have never regretted doing this. 2 Vsglass and ShouldBlittler reacted to this
