Can sleevers get re-sleeved/tightened? I still have 40 lbs to lose and sometimes feel like I never even had surgery.

It is possible., but sort of depend on a few things. What size bougie did your surgeon use for your Sleeve surgery? Did you have a lot of restriction at the beginning? How long has it been since your surgery?

I believe he used a 32F, I had surgery 20 months ago, I had a LOT of restriction at first (took an hour to eat half an overeasy egg, 2 oz of tuna salad had me full all afternoon) and now I can eat 4 ounces of steak without blinking, half a sandwich, a slice of pizza (not all at once, you get the point), and depending on which insurance chart you are using I easily have another 30-50 pounds to lose. =C

Hmm, well, not proclaiming to be any sort of expert by any stretch. Just thinking out loud more or less based on my own research prior to having surgery and what I have learned since then.

What happens if you start out eating say dense Protein first? Like say a chicken breast (without any creamy sauces) or roast beef, etc... Does this fill you up more quickly? If so, does it "stick" with you longer? Just wondering if maybe you need to go back to focusing on eating the denser Protein first, veggies, etc...

Like I said, just thinking out loud to see if any of this might help you.

I have tried various approaches to get back that old feeling of restriction, I do not drink with meals, chew really well, don't dip, eat Protein first, etc. etc. So far nothing really does it.

Well, then I would say go back to your surgeon and see what he or she says. Nothing else comes to mind. I can see where that would be frustrating.

I do not experience hunger so that is good, but when I sit down to a meal, nobody can tell I've had surgery =(

So if you eat one slice of pizza, or half a sandwich or 4 oz of meat do you feel full? Because bread becomes a "slider" for many, including me, after a while. I can eat a slice of pizza too. I ate half of a BBQ sandwich yesterday for lunch and the other half for dinner. Remember, you used to eat probably TWO sandwiches without stopping before or 4-6 slices of pizza. I think yo=

u probably have more restriction than you think. My Dr told me at surgery that if good choices were made total wright loss would be around 3 years

The part I find most facinating, and alarming, is that my capacity grows and shrinks depending on whether or not I am eating alone. If I am eating with non-ops I have a total sleever's appetite and can manage 3 bites. If I eat alone I can eat way way more. This is bad news. Also, turns out I wasn't paying attention, the reason for my sudden increase in capacity was my cycle, right before I start my capacity seems suddenly endless and I can't cram in enough rare red meat and chocolate (oh my).

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
