Finding Myself 146 Posted April 3, 2012 From GNC. I love these!!! They are beef Protein. Anybody know if the quality of protein is any good? 50 grams of beef isolate protein in 4 oz. and I like the taste a lot better than the whey Proteins.< /p>
Lissa 2,631 Posted April 3, 2012 I'm not sold, although I did just do some quick research. I don't see collagen as an ingredient in the online listings, which is good, because collagen is not readily available to the human body. I did see hydrolosis (extraction by chemical reaction with water) and bioengineered (adding a gene to something to produce desired characteristics). I'm highly against bioengineered foods for me. You may want to do some more research on this product and make up your own mind. The reviews I read on several websites all said that the users thought the taste was good and felt that it contributed to their muscle gains, most also felt that the dye in the product discolored their bowel movements and that the product foamed too much. Hopefully some of the exercise experts will answer this question. I'm interested in the answers.
Finding Myself 146 Posted April 3, 2012 I hope it's good because whey Protein is really gross to me! LOL

Finding Myself 146 Posted April 3, 2012 The orange flavor, but it doesn't really taste like orange. But it's good. Thick, but good. I have a Vitamin shot glass that has 1 and 2 oz measurements on it and it's really easy to get 2 oz down (since that's about all your body is able to handle in the first place). Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted April 3, 2012 I hope someone else can find some information on this product because I have a feeling it's not good for you, just like collegan Protein is not good for you. Collegan is made from boiled cow hides, so I just wonder where this beef is coming from.
Lissa 2,631 Posted April 3, 2012 Oregondaisy, That was my question: How are they extracting this collagen from beef and from what part of the animal? I couldnt find anything on that, but the fact that it was listed as bioengineered really threw me for a loop. Are they growing special cows for this product and adding some gene to them that makes them higher in Protein? If so, wouldnt someone be selling and advertising special higher-protein meat? WillowsKnot 71 Posted April 3, 2012 I have not seen this product, but after watching that Dateline NBC program on dietary supplements and the bad lab testing - after what happened to that one gal when she got her product from what I recall was GNC (not knocking all their products or the store), and also know about mad cow disease, I would not want anything that came from a cow if I could not be sure exactly how it was made. Just too risky. Then one also has to consider the overuse of antibiotics in these feed lot raised animals, if this is where they get the "beef" from. Not putting down anyone’s decision to use this product, just stating my concerns and why I would not choose this. That said, I totally understand how you feel about the whey Protein. It is no fan favorite of mine either but I figure it is better than losing my hair once I am sleeved here in April. I am on my liquid pre-op diet now so I am very limited, but after, when I can mix it up with some yogurt and fresh organic fruit as a real smoothie, I think I will be able to choke it down better. I ordered the unflavored to give it a try post-op in some fruit smoothies.< /p>
Finding Myself 146 Posted April 3, 2012 I wish I could find more info on this product other than what I'm finding in body building forums! whey Protein comes from milk, what do people who are lactose intolerant do? Can they still tolerate the whey?

Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted April 6, 2012 I can't drink milk but I have no trouble with whey Protein. I am really glad because I do love my Protein Shakes.< /p>
christine50 9 Posted April 8, 2012 The whey Protein doesnt have the lactose in it. So people should be able to drink it without problems from the milk it come from. This is my understanding.
