I am eating healthier and I only desire good carbs and high Protein foods. This is a great improvement for me, because protein was not my thing prior to surgery. Also, I had family visit yesterday, and they questioned me about my age, they wanted to be sure, I said 42. They said you look really good, I looking even younger since surgery. Loving my sleeve, can eat but just enough, feels good.

I don't know about looking younger, but I FEEL younger and I am frankly eating like a gourmet. lunch today brought from home is teriaki sesame salmon on a bed of quinoa with onions and peppers, spinach with balsamic vinaigrette and some lemon protein cake (recipe from eggface).

Hi, that sound so good, normally any type of fish wood make me gag. I am enjoying fish now.

Alaskan Cod Fish is about the only fish I have found that is palettable and I bought 25 lbs on Friday and have begun to introduce it to my family...Husband and boy are loving it we eat it once a week now. The daughter she prefers to eat the sides during that evenings dinner, as we do not allow making of 2 dinners to accomodate one person who does not "like" what we are having.

Cod is a really mild whitefish. I have always found salmon to be extremely "fishy" tasting, but my tastes are changing. I've always liked cold smoked lox, but cooked salmon was always a little weird. I still have to have it barbequed or baked with a well done glaze. I like ahi tuna raw.

My dad cannot tolerate fish in ANY form. He can't even look at it or smell it. This will play havoc when we go out for Easter. I am ordering two appetizers: seared ahi sashimi and asparagus in philo. He's going to complain at me, but good ahi doesn't have much smell so it will be his imagination.

I'll sit at the other end of the table and maybe he won't notice.

I like haddock and luckily my husband does as well. I expect to eat a bit of that during the soft stage.

Looking younger is always awesome!! I'm loving fish now too. Salmon and tilapia are staples, along with pre-cooked frozen shrimp. I'll make a stir fry of one or the other and chow down.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
