Will Laxatives Be My Entire Life?

Recommended Posts

Using laxatives can be habit-forming. Try adding in some Water and, unless it's prescribed by your doctor, ease up on the Iron pills. I drink Decaf coffee and that seems to work pretty well for this issue. Iron is horrible about stopping up the works, though. I don't take any more iron than is in my multi-Vitamin and, so far, I've been okay on my labs.

Good luck!

You may also want to look into taking a magnesium supplement. I did some research on it and found that it helps to make the system work. So I talked to my surgeon and showed them my research. She said I could take a 500 mg supplement daily and make sure I drank all of my fluids. Pre and Post op, we don't get enough. It is found in dark leafy greens. I no longer have Constipation issues and the magnesium is not habit forming. Plus the added bonus is that it helps reduce my Migraines.< /p>

Ah, YorkieFan, you may have answered why I don't have Constipation issues. I eat dark leafy greens quite a bit. I always have loved collard greens and broccoli. While on Coumadin, my doc told me not to change the amount of them I eat, so I eat a little bit of them every day, just like I always have. That explains a lot! :)

I was never told to use laxatives. I was prescribed stool softeners and told to add benefiber. This is all i need. Since starting solids, i havent had a problem and have basically stopped the benefiber and no longer use the stool softener.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
