haven't had a pain pump since Saturday afternoon. if it weren't for the extreme soreness in my abdominal area, I'd be 100%! I have been walking constantly and now I'm waiting for my next dose of Pain medicine and takin to the surgeon to hear if I'm getting released today or not. just still sleepy and have been peeing a ton but no luck with passin gas

26 pounds in two weeks! I can't believe a liquid diet helped me drop that much. Well, I just drank that Citrus drink. We will see what happens!

Surgery was Thursday with Dr Garcia and today is Sunday. So far I am feeling so much better. I had a good hospital stay with minimal pain. I had some nausea, never vomited but was close to it. My pain was tolerable. The drain was a different story. It made breathing tough. On Saturday when they took the drain out I had a little complication. My drain had worked itself into a knot. It was terrible pain. Dr Garcia and about 6 other workers came into my room to help get it out. They numbed me with lidocaine and they were able to get it out with no further pain.

Each day gets better. I have been burping and passing a little bit of gas. For the most part, it feels as if I did a killer ab workout.

Now, as for the hospital and the care.... I must say that the language barrier made things very tough. I had an IV go bad and it was hard to communicate that. The nurses English was very rough. I know that I was in Mexico and Spanish is their language, but I guess I thought that since most of the patients speak English that the nurses would have better English skills. The nurses had you doing a lot for yourself. Minimal help with showering and or getting your Ted hose on and off.

I am excited for my new life and eager for the Water weight to come off.

You should write about your experience in a blog. Though I am a patient here in the US, it is interesting to hear what it is like in Mexico.

Also went out to dinner with the Dr (Dr Kelly), his wife, his 7 year old son, the anaesthatist & another patient (who is 1 year out & lost over 100lbs so far) yesterday. That was really nice to get to know them all.

Very different to how you get treated in the US I guess, but I liked it a lot.

Of course they ordered me chicken broth, so sipped on that slowly while they ate. It was fun!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
