Hello again Ashlee! So for me, I am having my surgery in Mexico and my doctor does not require me to have a long pre-op diet (because my BMI is 36), I am required to have a liquid diet for three days before surgery however. This varies with each doctor however and your starting BMI. I spoke to a nutritionist that specializes in bariatric surgery and here is some info she sent me. you can use the liquid phase of it for pre-op, but again it varies with doctors. (Well I can not figure out how attach the diet here, so I will try to put it somewhere else in the group.

My BMI is 79 and I don't have a Pre-Op Diet. The day before I am on Clear Liquids and NPO MidNight. I do have to get a Vena Cava Filter placed in my leg two days before the surgery. This is done in Same Day Surgery.

Many surgeons recommend that if your BMI is over 40 you do the two week diet because of the liver becoming smaller with it. are you having an open surgery phatdiva? Many surgeries that are scheduled laparascopically can become open if the liver is too large, so that is something to keep in mind. Because my BMI is only 36 I only have a 3 day liquid diet preop, is full liquids though.

My surgery is scheduled for May 11, and I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch and a salad with Protein for dinner. 3 days before surgery liquid diet only. I am so ready to begin this journey. I have been researching for about 2 years. The sleeve was a natural choice and the more I read the more I am POSITIVE I made the right choice. ;)

Got my prepped diet, clear liquids the day before since my bmi/weight is steady at 244ish. Idk if I'm happy I don't have to do it or whether I should anyway to get my brain used to it

Dr. Aceves gave me a pre-op diet to do one week before surgery. You can read the post on my blog if you're curious what it is specifically. Pretty much a low-carb diet. http://gastricsleeve4me.blogspot.com/2012/05/pre-op-diet.html

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
