Anyone Done Lip Augmentation?

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking about having this done. I don't want to go crazy dramatic, just a nice fuller lip I would be happy with.

I'm looking into just a filler at this point, just to get an idea if I might be interested in something more permanent down the line. If I were to do that, most likely I'd do fat transfer. I don't think I'd want implants as I've heard they can cause scarring and I'd be too afraid I could permanently screw up my lips!

Anyhow any and all feedback is welcome! Especially pricing... thanks!!

I am humbled!! I'm going to start small anyhow. I was given some suggestions on lip plumpers, and I'll be checking out Sephora soon. ;-)

I say don't do it! I've never seen lip work that didn't look obvious, and your mouth is well balanced in your features. Don't mess with your pretty face! Save your money and buy a plumper from Sephora. :)

I know that's right, and was why I was looking for feedback. Some ladies take the lip injections to the extreme! LOL :) Thanks so much for your honesty!!

I've had my lips plumped several times before using restylane. I loved it! It lasts between 6-12 months. And unlike fat transfer and stuff like that, it's a slight change so it doesn't look like that fake duck lip thing! It just adds a bit of volume. BUT--fair warning-- it hurts bad!!! They'll numb your lips but it still hurts so bad!! But it's worth it :)

I worked at a dermatologist office so I got mine for free, but we charged $650 for a syringe of restylane and one syringe is more than enough. What I always did was have her inject half and then refrigerate the rest. Then I'd go home and wait for swelling to go down and decide if I wanted more and where I wanted it. Then go back the next day or two and have her inject the rest. You get so swollen when you do it that it's hard to see the actual results for a few hours. Hope this helps :]

Can I say PLEEZ just look into using plumpers. Like the earlier post, lip work is horribly obvious...even to folks who think they've only done a little bit. Duck lip is a horrible epidemic! You are beautiful..believe that!

Thanks so much ladies! Yes, I am definitely going to try the lip plumpers first. Far less costly, and I might not even like the idea of fuller lips, who knows? I do agree that most times it is obvious someone has had their lips enhanced, and truthfully that is not the extent to which I want to go.

There is a procedure but not a filler - they pull the upper lip up slightly. I forget the name of it. I would not get filler but might would consider the other procedure.

You can have the fat under my chin for your lip if it makes it cheaper. lol.

Pookeyism--That's funny...I have extra to spare under my chin too and do plan on having it fixed in a year from now! I might even consider fat transfer to my butt. We'll see...I still have yet to have the surgery! (April 10th!).

I know a couple of people who went with injectables. It looks good after a little while and then slowly fades away. Think of them like getting a perm: first it's too crazy curly, then after a couple of weeks you're like "yeah baby - I know why I got it now!" then after a few months, your hair is about straight again.

And for those who are not yet at goal: After getting to goal, I have no fat under my chin, just a few wrinkles and a little 50+ skin bag!

Irene, Juvederm is the best for a soft, suttle enhancement. I am a cosmetic nurse injector and the dr that I work with has taught me several different techniques to ensure optimal results. Restylane is a bit thicker. I have seen smoother, natural looking results with Juvederm. They are priced the same. $750 depending on the dr/med spa. We often joke when someone wants " WANDA" lips. Remember Jamie Foxx's character on In Living Color back in the day? "I'm ready to go". LOL. Good Luck with what ever you decide! BTW I love your smile as is, but understand the desire for a lil pout in your lips!

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely keep this in mind. How long does the Juvederm last? Also, NO I do not want Wanda lips! LMAO

Beware of trout pout and duck lips . . . Or as my grandma used to say "her mouth looks like the rear end of a chicken". Lol.

Juvederm will last usually around 6-9 mos & Restylane lasts 9-12mos,but like I said it's a bit more viscous. I think the Juvederm works best for lips, it's smoother. If I was filling in acne craters or really deep marionette lines (think puppet's mouth) then I use Restylane. The best thing with the Juvederm syringe is that you probably wouldn't use a whole syringe so you could try and purchase half or buy the whole syringe and just keep the unused in a fridge and dated. I have injected women that brought their own in. A lot of times you can add a little Juvederm to the cupid's bow and it pulls/enhances the upper lip nicely and gives a fuller upper lip and then just a little is used to one's preference on the bottom.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
