Bad Choice Of Food Today

Recommended Posts

I took a friend to the airport on Tuesday morning and he will be gone for a month so he told me to take home some of the things that would not keep until he returned. I brought home the milk, eggs and a bag of lettuce salad mix. I know that my diet plan does not call for lettuce at this point. I am a little over 3 months out from my lapband to sleeve surgery. I have been craving lettuce for quite some time and love a good chef salad.

I put a little lettuce in a bowl, cut up some sliced turkey, cut up a hard boiled egg, a little shredded cheese and then added a little dressing. I was eating and chewing very well and things seemed to be going great. Then it hit me like a rock....I started to get that feeling in your stomach like one time when I thought that I could finish what was on my plate and did. That is the only time that I have had to vomit since having my sleeve. I sat down in the chair and sat very still thinking that the discomfort would go away. After about 30 minutes of much discomfort I knew that it had to come up. This was only the second time that I have vomited since my sleeve. I know that I took the chance on eating something on my diet that was not called for until a later date post op.

This has taught me another important lesson that I should eat what I am supposed to according to my diet and things like this would not happen to me. Just wanted to share as I see a lot of others who have posted and are eating things that I am not supposed to have until 5-6 months post op. This just shows that there is a great difference in the diets given by the doctors that perform WLS>

Thanks for posting! I have been craving a salad so bad but know I can't have one until the diet plan tells me it is okay. After reading yours I will definitely not make the mistake of trying to do it early!!

I hope you felt much better after it was all over! Ick! :P

Let me just add that it tasted 1000% better going down than coming up. I may not be able to eat ranch dressing for quite some time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
