Golden 10 Posted March 28, 2012 I am 10 months out and have been bouncing back and forth between the same 3 pounds for what seems like FOREVER. I've had stalls before and they always pass, but this is hanging on so long, and I'm far enough out, that I've started to wonder if this is where my body is going to "settle"...but I still feel like I really need to lose that last 10-15 to get to goal. I am eating about 1200-1300 calories a day. Originally in trying to break the stall, I tried to lower it for a few days to see if it would help, but I couldn't...I was too hungry to only eat 1000. Do I need to increase it? I realize it may help, it just seems scary. A few months ago, I wasn't ever able to get in more than 1000, and now that's not enough! Mentally it makes me feel anxious I think. If I go up to 1500-1600, isn't that what people who don't have surgery eat?! I am walk/running at the gym twice a week, go to pretty intense vinyasa yoga classes 3-4 times per week and overall just try to stay as active as I can during the day. Just curious for those who are a bit further out and have come to this last bit of weight to lose. Is this normal? Is upping calories again the answer? Making an appt with my nut for next week, but would welcome others' experiences.
Foxbins 625 Posted March 28, 2012 I didn't. I stayed between 800-900 a day until I reached goal, then upped them a little each week. I still lost 12 lbs in the two months after goal. Of course, I lost my hunger with surgery so I don't have to deal with hunger pangs. Maybe reduce your carbs way down low for a little while so you don't feel so hungry? Yorkie Fan 16 Posted March 28, 2012 I am almost 10 months out too. I have stalled at the last 5 pounds. I take in about 1000 to 1100 calories a day. My doc told me last week that if I wanted to maintain my weight to keep my calories around 1400-1500. Otherwise she told me to make sure I was getting in a minimum of 60 grams of Protein (She would prefer it be closer to 70 or 80 daily), because when our calories are that low and we don't get enough protein in then our body stops losing fat. (It loses muscle instead.) She also told me it takes 6 weeks to reverse a depletion in our protein. I was shocked by the 6 week reversal! I know we will get to our goals. It just feels like it is so close but still so far away. Hang in there!
