kittylover 1 Posted August 8, 2006 I have my first consultation on Friday. The lady I spoke to told me I should write down any questions I have and I mentioned I have been visiting a Lap Band support site. She mentioned something about 50 pounds and lap band but I didn't quite catch it. Maybe there is a certian weight requirement for getting the lap band and if I don't meet those they will recommend gastric bypass? Does anyone have any idea what she could have meant? I refuse to do the gastric, I want something reverseable and less risky. I need to lose 140 pounds.
pebbles4388 0 Posted August 10, 2006 Congratulations! I don't know what the nurse meant, but I doubt they will recommend you for gastric bypass if they may think you're not heavy enough for the lap band. Keep us posted! I have my first consultation on September 15, and I can't wait for that date to get here.
kittylover 1 Posted August 10, 2006 Thank you for replying I am excited to change my life. I am 275 so I don't think I am underweight for the lap band. Let's hope not, I don't plan on going that route. Congrats on your consultation I wish you luck on your journey as well.
pebbles4388 0 Posted August 10, 2006 Thank-you! I've started dieting in anticipation that when I meet the Doctor, she'll see that I got a head start on my weight loss. I went into her office last week and had a nurse weigh me and document it. I'm a slow loser, and figured I'd start early. LOL!
kittylover 1 Posted August 10, 2006 I called 2 days ago and they called me the day after I faxed in my paperwork and I was amazed at how quick they are getting me in. I am a slow loser too, lost only 24 pounds on WW over 2 years. Weight runs in my family though =/
