I LOVE Dr. Zizi!! He is a great dr. I have lost about 75 lbs, but I have to confess that I have been maintaining since about december just because I want to. I really feel great at the weight I am and enjoy eating a little of everything too much to get back strict right now. My best friend is having surgery with him this Friday.

I hope I lose a whole mess of weight lol. Did the weight just fall off or was it something you had to struggle with ? I am from Bastrop! Born and raised.

I can only speak for myself of course, but this has been the easiest I have ever lost weight. I didn't lose for about a week, fluids from the surgery I guess, then I lost about a pound a day for a while. I went back to work at 8 weeks post op and I had lost 40 by then. I haven't done any exercise. I'm sure if I watched what I eat and start exercising the last 15 will come off. I just love that I can maintain so easily though. In the past I would lose the weight then the minute I stopped dieting start gaining it back. Now I am NOT on a diet, I just eat like everyone else just a whole heck of a lot less. lol That is the whole reason I got surgery was for the maintainence, I knew I could lose just never keep it off. I started at about 245 but I got to 239 by the time I saw dr zizi. I use that as my surgery weight too. I am at 165 right now. Started in a tight 20/22 and now I am in an 8 or 10 depending on the brand and style of clothes. I would do this over in a heartbeat, I'm just sorry I didn't do it sooner.

My husband was raised in Bastrop too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
