SexySlim, I live in Landover, MD too!!! So exciting to find a neighbor on these site :) I will be sleeved on April 11 by Dr. Garcia in Tijuana, Mexico. I would like to stay in contact with you. It would be nice to share our experiences and perhaps even do a workout together one day. Hope your recovery is going well.

Well I'm almost 6 feet tall, I think that's why mine is so long. And it would take A LOT of food to pack it LOL!

Well basically it is having the sleeve done all over again. I have been talking with a doctor in mexico about having it done and he suggested i might want to consider gastric bypass. I have never even thought about having the bypass done, not even at my heaviest weight. I have a low bmi since i lost a lot of weight with the lapband so im scared to do it but im slowly gaining back the weight. Have any of you known anyone with a low bmi get the gastric bypass????

Shaundra, if you have a sleeve that didn't work for you, have you considered the duodenal switch? It's usually the last resort if the sleeve doesn't work. I know you are already lower BMI but if you are going to have a surgery again, just be smart about it. The DS has a higher success of keeping the weight off long term over the gastric bypass. Please just discuss this with the surgeon as an option. The re-sleeve might work, I have no idea. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
