Impatiently Waiting For Surgery

Recommended Posts

mad.pngI am in Tujuana. Got here yesterday. Did all the pre op testing yesterday. Well, it is now 3:38pm and I am still waiting to have surgery. OMG! I am going nuts. I am actually getting pissed. I don't understand what the issue is. I had to be here at 10 am. There are 4 of us getting sleeved and I don't think they have even started yet.

Sorry you are getting frustrated. I would be too if I had to wait there all day. Which place are you at in TJ? The good news is that you will be getting sleeved and beginning your new life! Hang in there and keep us posted! Sending hugs your way!

My surgery was 5 hours long...so maybe if there are 4 of you the doctor is just taking extra care of all of his patients....you will get a good night sleep tonight and be all newly sleeved in the morning.

No telling what is going on, maybe an emergency. Sit back and relax! Don't get your body all stressed out before your new sleevie arrives!! Congrats!! :D

It really sucks to have to wait for so many hours and not know what's going on. Hang in there, you will love your sleeve after awhile. XOXOXO Hugs ;)

I know it is frustrating. My surgery was pushed back for hours, and while I was given valium to deal with the ensuing anxiety, my poor husband was stuck sitting in a very uncomfortable pre-op area for about five hours.

That was the only major negative of my surgery experience, well that plus shoulder gas pain, but since I was accommodated last minute at the very end of the year for insurance purposes, I suspect it was a small price to pay. Still, it let to a very frustrating day of waiting.

My surgeon did have an emergency surgery that day (he does other types of surgery), and they accommodated someone else, if I remember correctly.

I hope by this time you are either in progress or recuperating!

I am with Dr. Garcia. I've had the surgery now!. I shouldn't have been so impatient. I am feeling pretty good except for the pain right under my breasts. Having a hard time sleeping. Trying to walk in 15 minute intervals.

Did you find out why it was taking so long? I am having surgery with him also in May.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
