Hi everyone,

I was sleeved on Nov 3 2011... so I'm nearing the 5 month mark and I've only lost 27.5 lbs. In the last 2 months I've only lost 4.8 pounds and I just feel like I wasn't a great candidate for this surgery. I had hoped to have lost about 40-50 pounds by now and as you can see - this isn't the case :)

Anyone else out there like me - seriously slow loser? I'm eating everything... ok bread isn't very fun to eat as it sits and makes me feel terrible. I am eating some chocolate ( yes I now - and I've given myself a talking to about that)

I'm really hoping to push past this stall and lose about 2 lbs this week... any thoughts on how? Or any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

are you getting enough Protein and what is your caloric intake? Is your body in starvation mode? I was no loss in 5 days and someone suggested a few more calories...and the next day I was down 2.5 lbs

Hi,

I a new sleever myself...sorry to hear about the slow weightloss...How is the exercise going my VSG mentor tell me all the time to still have to put in the fitness hours.

Oh how true...I do Water arobics 3X a week for 1.5 hrs....I love it great excercise and great support by the others in the class on the weight loss and inches loss...

Hi, this is my 5th week and I've only lost 12 llbs, i haven't lost anything in the last 3 weeks! i hear there are stalls but when are they over??? I think we're on the same boat :(

I also had my surgery on Dec 11, 2011. I am currently down 38 pounds. A lot of my weight loss was right after surgery and I have slowed. I have not been getting to the gym lately and that is my own fault as I have been talking myself out of it for any reason. I need to make up my mind that I get there at least 5 days a week. I have been getting out and walking with my dog but I get a more intense workout at the gym.

I too have been having a little chocolate every now and then but I have not come close to bread. I have had some crackers and noodles but not in any great quantity. I think that I am going to go back on the liquid for a week and then start again with regular foods but only those that I should be eating and make sure I get all the Protein and Water. Some days when I do not keep track I think that I fall short so I think that a food diary daily is a good tool for all to use.

I hope that you get back on track. I know that I had a stall earlier for about 3 weeks and then bang I started to lose again.

I was a slow loser and my doctor told me I wasn't eating enough calories. I had to up my calorie intake to 1000 calories a day. I also have to get 70 grams of protien and at least 48 oz of Water a day. After I up'd my calories I lost 6 pounds in 10 days.

I consider myself to be a slow loser, but it is relatively steady outside of the usual stalls. I am keeping active with Water aerobics three times a week and also walking. I do consider this a marathon and not a sprint (are those the right terms?) and so I am being very patient.

Perhaps get back to basics - I think there is a "bootcamp" posted by Lilmissdiva here. If you are eating chocolate, maybe other things are slipping as well. That is not judgmental, as we all do it!

Maybe, Like Iowaandy says, go back to liquids for a week. Definitely up the Protein. I think that is our best weapon against hunger and potential bingeing.

I don't see your stats, but did you start at a lower weight than most? I think some of the lower starting weights may not drop as quickly.

Also, when I get a little discouraged, I look at my progress since surgery and I think to myself how there is no way in hell I could have lost that amount of weight and kept it off before surgery. Some of us are going to go a little slower but it is still better than where we were on our own.

This is a new way of life. We all have to look at how and what we are eating and our Fluid intake. We need to be mindful of what we put in our bodies so we can continue on with our new journey. We are skinny people in the making and so focused on weight loss, that we are forgetting to live for today. Let's refocus ourselves to enjoying the wonderful company that we have and enjoy our beautiful friends and family. That's what life is all about for me. ;)

I started at 214lbs, I exercise and try to eat right... my goal weight is to be down to 135. I'm 5'4". My plan was for this to tae a year and maybe not have to deal with much loose skin.... I'm focusing on getting in more Protein, and my Water. Then I'll check in a week to see if I've boosted myself :)

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
