isajck 229 Posted July 27, 2013 Single and a year out from surgery. The friends are all saying "it's time to start dating, place an ad somewhere" but how does one who never really learned the art of dating and/or dealing with members the opposite sex in romantic situations even begin to go about it? 1 Michellemo reacted to this

The friends are all saying "it's time to start dating, place an ad somewhere" but how does one who never really learned the art of dating and/or dealing with members the opposite sex in romantic situations even begin to go about it? Hi everyone! I've been single for a very long time (we're talking over 10 years), and not by choice. I would recommend to you, isajck, just to be cautious with online dating. I know some friends that have had great success, but I have also experienced a lot of guys who just seem to expect sex even when you make it clear in your profile that you are looking for a long-term relationship. I am going to get sleeved on August 19th, and I KNOW that I have a bunch of issues around men & dating (working on this in therapy!) but when I do plan on starting to date again, I'm hoping to do it through meeting new people in person at new activities & social events that I've been too self-conscious to attend! Good luck to you (and all of us!) 2 SlimDreams and isajck reacted to this

Wolfgirl1978 256 Posted July 29, 2013 I met someone online. Not a dating service though, it's through a zombie game I play. Lmao. Anyway he's great. The only drawback is that he lives in California and I live in Louisiana. He flew in last week and stayed for 6 days was awesome. I'm flying out to visit him in California in October. Anyway he has seen all my fat Facebook pictures and is okay with how I used to look. Before we shared Facebook profiles and when we first started talking I was not going to tell him about WLS, but he told me he has been divorced since 2008 because his ex wife had WLS and became a crystal meth addict. So in light of that info, I felt I should be honest. 1 Canary Diamond reacted to this

ElaineB 207 Posted August 12, 2013 I'm almost 3 weeks post op and 3 days broken up with the boyfriend. That didn't take long:). I'm not even sad. I am 43 and I've had more personal growth in my forties than in the 2 decades prior. I stayed 18 years with my ex husband. This has only been less than stellar for a few months. I'm learning faster and raising my standards. I've realized I can feel sorry for myself, but ultimately, no one can treat you poorly if you don't let them. I'm feeling empowered and feisty. I guess I will be single indefinitely. . I love this thread, by the way. 3 LesIsMore, SlimDreams and Kimmy1813 reacted to this

tallysfunny 363 Posted August 26, 2013 Wish there was a magic pill or whatever to make this whole date crap not so very craptastic. But at least we can chat with eachother. I'm single too and it kind of sucks and kind of doesn't. It sucks when you're lonely and you just want "your person", the one that is yours and you share the highs and lows of life with. It doesn't suck when you have to hear all the horror stories from others about the sh*tty side of dating. However, better a sh*tty day in paradise than working right? Lol. And it's all well and good that I'm under 200 now, down 117 since surgery (11/20/12) but try still being almost 6 feet tall. I will NEVER be petite and guys want small, which I cannot change my height so that leaves me S.O.L. And BTW acting nurse...you should have no problem whatsoever. Very handsome indeed.
