I've had it - I have tried everything, changed up the exercise, changed up the foods, increased calories, reduced calories, etc. etc. and I am just not losing, in fact, I am slowly slowly gaining, just like I have all of my life! I'm miserable about it. So, I am going back to 600 calories a day, <30 grams carbs, just like post-op. I'm sad to do it but I can't think of anything else. The only thing that scares me is that I am not super obese anymore so I don't know how my average body will react, will it shut down my metabolism? Make me unable to lose weight later? Make me gain if I try to eat regular cals? I started at 294, am currently 170 (lowest post-op was 164). Thoughts, advice, suggestions?

Wow!!!!!!!!......congratulations on your BIG weight loss and success. I know that you must feel frustrated. I was looking at your post and I am just curious as to how many carbs you eat. I know that carbs are my big downfall and maybe if you cut back on your carbs and focused more on Protein, veggies and fruits that you might be able to maintain. I know that carbs are going to be my greatest problem once I reach my goal which I have a ways to go.

Keep up the battle and keep us posted. Maybe try and substitute a Protein Shake for the meal that you eat the most carbs and see if that will get the scale to move in the downward direction.

Thanks Iowa, as of this morning I am 168 and am going to try the 600 experiment. I have to remind myself that this won't actually hurt, because I don't feel hunger. It will be interesting to note all of the emotions I feel, that will be brought up, like anxiety. Today I will have one egg, one Protein Shake made with Water, one container of greek yogurt with walnuts, and one Protein shot. 600 cals, 79g protein, 21g carbs. After work I will run 2 miles and lift weights, let's see what happens!

I just have a question about the Protein shot. It says that it has 600 calories and .....how many grams of Protein are in one shot. Have never used them and wondering. I know that you are not to consume a huge amount of protein at one time as the body can only absorb so much at a time.

Uh, what kind of Protein shot has 600 calories? None I've ever used, mine have 110 calories, 26 grams Protein and maybe 1 carb.

Yeah, I've seen the scale move - I've gained 5 pounds. =(

Oh my heart truly goes out to you. I am starting at 291 & my journey is to 165. I am only 7 weeks post op so I am just starting this journey. Have u been able to stop the weight gain? Only thing I can think of is possibly get a trainer at the gym, even just for a short amount of time, maybe they can show u some way to jump start your metabolism w/ different intensities and mixing up your aerobics. You probably have tried all this??? I am believing for you!

If you are weight lifting remember that muscle weighs more than fat. Have you actually increased a pants size along with the 5lbs? I wish I could be more help but I'm pre sleeve and haven't found out yet if I'm going to be a slow loser.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
