So when i was 19..i got lipo..and i guess i did not take care of myself because after my children i gained weight. The issue was that i gained it all in mu butt and legs...i cant seem to figure out if that was a good thing or not. I am 5' 4" and 207. I am so tired of being fat. I have a pool i haven't even been in because i do not feel comfy in a bathing suit. I have finally decided to get this done. I am doing my pre surgery tests..but soooo scared. I am wondering weather i want to go to the extreme of cutting my stomach. I have a very demanding job and requires lots of energy. How long will it be that i am wthout energy? I have seen tons of yuou tube videos abd have heard pretty much very positive things about this surgery. My doctor told me he would recommend this one vs the lap band or gastric bypass if it were his family members getting the surgery.

Just got done with endoscopy...it was a piece of cake. The iv hurt the most. They put me out completely for the procedure. I came out good. I had a hernia, which he will fix. I typed in "gastric sleeve" on you tube and a bunch of testimonials come out. My favorite are by user "gastricsleevereview"

I went in at seven am...they prepared me and took me in at 930. I was out by 1030 from the hospital. The actual procedure only took about 15 minutes. The doctor went over with me the results right away.

Wow that's great. Did they have the results for the biopsy aswell? Do you get a copy? Do they fax it the same day to your surgeon?

Yes...the very first step was too get a one on one with him. He told me all about the 3 surgery options..he gave me info and websites to find more info..then i scheduled a second appt with him and my husband...now are the exams to confirm i am a candidate dor the surgery. I have already visited my pcp and she has signed off on the surgery. She is ok with it and she did a cbc (cell blood count) and an ekg to monitor my heart.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
