Anyone else a horribly picky eater? I honestly don't know how I'm so big since I hate so much food. The nutritionist kept giving me suggestions on foods and I just shook my head in disgust lol

Here is what I will eat cause the list I hate is way too long...

chicken breast, ground turkey breast, whole turkey breast, lettuce, tomatoes, zucchini, potatoes, bean sprouts, celery, carrots, green/red peppers, onions, kidney Beans, pinto beans, black beans, green beans, corn, rice, pickles, white/wheat bread, cornbread, spinach, halibut, mahi mahi (unfishy fish)

I make tacos, chile, casseroles with chicken/turkey...I honestly could eat tacos everyday if I had them...pizza too

I love sweets which is my biggest downfall!!! Although I did go to the store yesterday and walk thru the bakery twice and nothing seemed good...I like some ice cream, Cookies, etc

One of the most disgusting things is ranch dressing...just the smell makes me sick to my stomach and I gag...

That nasty nacho cheese people get the liquid kind is gross to me lol

I can't stand mushrooms, olives, ranch anything, hummus, red meat, pork, radishes, cauliflower, broccoli, tuna fish, mayo, Alfredo sauce...anything rich and creamy is icky...sour cream etc

I am not so much a picky eater as being allergic to some foods ( milk, aspartame ) so I've been hunting down sugar free foods made with splenda. I made myself diet Jello using knox Gelatin and 4C sugar-free fruit punch. Haven't found any ice pops with splenda yet, but still looking.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
