Cissiesue asked: (posting this question for her) my family have been planning a Disneyland trip in late August. I'd much rather go in September, when its a bit cooler, less crowded, and I'd be another month out from surgery. Here is my dilema. I have 4 kids, one is college aged and the other three will be in first (twins) and third grades. I'm. Not all too worried about the little ones missing a couple of days in Sept. because they can easily make it up. Its my eldest. College doesn't usually let you make up work. So, do you think I would be ok ten weeks out to endure four days in Disney? The hotel we chose, serves free Breakfast daily, and m-th they serve free dinner, so its a big savings for our family of six to go during more it the week ( sat - wed) Or, should we postpone for another month??

I'm only 2 weeks out and really feeling good. I can't imagine not feeling well enough at 10 weeks to go on vacation even one as strenuous as disney. Good luck.

I am 2 weeks post-op and am on vacation in Florida right now. We went to the beach all day today and some shopping. Yesterday we went to the zoo. I feel great. I wouldn't think you'd have any problems 10 weeks out. :)

I think you'll be fine!! I just got back from Disneyland. We took our Water bottles and crystal lite packets so we kept up on water. We even packed snacks! I packed a suitcase full of snacky type stuff and then threw it in the bottom of the stroller. No troubles! Saved us a boatload of cash, plus I had good Snacks to eat instead of junkfood.

You will probably be fine, as the walking is good for you, BUT beeeee C A R E F U L!!!! I went to San Antonio a couple weeks out from my surgery, and almost blacked out at the Alamo!! I thought I was keeping up with liquids and Protein drinks, but my body's demand increased since I was more active and I did NOT keep up sufficiently. It was a little scary. My husband was in board meetings, so I was alone, and as I hurried back to the car at the Alamo, I envisioned myself passing out and waking up in a hospital.

It's easy to neglect your own needs when you are traveling with children. This is my advice and warning to you. Seriously. Watch your fluids.

Thanks Dooter! I am very concerned with just that! Late August is HOT most anywhere, and add ten thousand people, and the opening of carsland etc. I'm planning on taking in lots of bottles of Water plus some Protein Drinks and and bars. Plus a sun hat for sure! We are only going into the park for three days and just relaxing are the pool the first day there. Its just so unknown since I've yet to be sleeved. Thanks for the first hand expirience!!

At the beach yesterday we packed a cooler. I had lots of Water and applesauce. (I'm still on pureed). At restaurants I just order Soup or 1/2 order of crab legs. ;). If you can bring in water maybe freeze a couple bottles since you'll be there in August. Just stay hydrated in the heat and I think you'll be fine. :)
