I was sleeved on 3/21. I'm struggling with Protein and Fluid intake. But most of all the biggest incision feels like it is stitched too tight!! i can't sit up from laying or cough without extreme pain from this one incision. Will he have to go in and loosen it? it is like i have an extra belly button!

According to my surgeon the big incision on the left has a really deep internal suture from where they took the stomach out. Yeah, it'll be sore for awhile, when the swelling goes down, it will feel better. I'm 2 weeks out and still swollen and sore, can't really cough or sneeze. Try a heating pad on your tummy.

Are you wearing the surgery band restriction thing? I find having that on takes away all the discomfort.

I had the same issue. But walking is actually the only thing that seemed to help. It's like it loosened up the tight tissue or something. I'm 11 days post op and actually made a comment today about how you can hardly notice my 2nd bellybutton anymore. :)

I'm 3 weeks post op today and I am sitting here with my heating pad on my big incision! It bothers me most of the time still but it has not stoped me from returning to work or from my daily walks. I just use the heating pad when I get home and take a couple of tylenol. This too shall pass!

I didn't get a restriction band.

Try and get one from a medical supply store. It's made a huge difference for me. Keeps everything stable when I walk. Feels much better.

Abdominal binder, I think is what they call it. I didn't have one, but I know it would've helped.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
