I am almost 4 weeks post op and get very dizzy while I am standing up. Sometimes it happens when I get up quickly and other times it is when I am just standing. The other day I almost passed out in the grocery store. Kinda scary.. I am drinking 70-90 oz Fluid daily and getting in 70+g Protein and 600-800 cal per day. My pcp has asked me to increase my cal to 1000 cal per day and increase my sodium. I have a low bmi so I am happy to do that. I also had a calf cramp for almost 2 weeks which is gone now that I started taking potassium. Pcp is testing for blood clots. has anyone ever had one that can share?

Hi, yes I had severe pain and swelling in my right leg week 2 post op. Went to local A&E and was told I have DVT. I was given a 5 day course of injections (blood thinners) to desolve any clots. After 5 day course had to have a scan/ultrasound on my legs to check if any clots left. Thankfully, there were none. I have to wear compression knee hifh socks for 4 weeks. Read up on symptoms and things to look out for on DVT. This saved my life because if I had left it I could of had a heart attack or a clot on my lung.

sounds like a blood pressure issue. This dizzyness occurs with me after sitting from a hard workout in the gym. I read online its called posterity hypo tension...meaning blood pressure gets low after exercise. The cures I found online was to simply just get up slower till your body is fully adjusted to weightloss.

I had a DVT pre-op that threw two pulmonary emboli to my lungs. Thankfully, the emboli did not burst. I've been taking coumading since last June, with a one month break in October to see if I still had clot factor in my blood. I did. I'll stop the Coumadin/Warfarin in April again and have another blood test in May to (I hope) go off the coumadin for good.

Being active helps to prevent clots and to help break them up AFTER your doctor approves you to resume activity. My doc tells me that 30 minutes of cardio activity per day is required to prevent reoccurrence, which works great with my exercise routine! :) Mine was dx via ultrasound and ran from mid calf up to mid thigh...the tech wouldn't even let me get off the table until they gave me a shot of lovenox and oral coumadin.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
