I did the same thing 2 weeks ago. Refusing to eat/drink. I have to force myself. Barely ate anything in 2 days. I decided that I might as well eat what my sleeve can take. Keeping in mind Protein first. But my body is nauseous at the thought of Protein Shakes. So I had 2 meatballs one day and 3 bites of thin crust/meaty pizza today. Not the best choices but something rather than nothing. Anyone else has gone through this? Last time I did it only lasted 2-3 days then I was back on my shakes. Forcing liquids as well

I just uttered those words to my husband as I dauntingly stood in the kitchen another night deciding chicken, fish, or shrimp. I'm absolutely exhausted thinking about Protein and getting enough in. I even force it down when I'm not even hungry. I know it's just a temporary thing and I try to think how in the long term this will seem so long ago. This is the tough part, but I know it will all be worth it and we will once again enjoy food options, just in smaller amounts! Hang in there ;)

Same here going thru some what the same so I decided to make my favorite dishes just smaller but using fat free or sugar free ingredients n high in Protein. Trying to get all my protein from meals I do 5 small meals a say. Sometimes I start with a Protein Shake just to boost up my intake. A shake counts as a meal. So watch ur calories

Unless you get creative, it's easy to fall into a rut on the Protein thing. I usually do a shake or a Protein Bar early in the day, then try to stay high Protein as the day goes on. It really helps me to be able to add in some veggies if I use the shake or Protein Bar, but I do try to change that up so I'm not eating the exact same thing each day.

I have done: stir fries with lots of meat and a little veggie, shrimp with cocktail sauce, rolled up lunch meat/cheese with pickles or olives or mushrooms, the meat from chinese food (beef from beef broccoli or chicken from sweet and sour), a hamburger patty dressed as if it were on a bun, skip the bun, and even cheese ravioli.

I'm 7 months post-op almost, and I'm really working hard now to vary my diet and add in more veggies. I've just started the serious exercise portion of my journey, where I'm now worrying about miles and distance as much as just doing the workouts. Adding in the fruits and veggies is helping me keep my endurance up. It's important, too, because having the carbs helps to give me the oomph to finish a workout.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
